Resistance 3: Special Editions And Pre-Order Bonuses
Resistance 3 inches ever closer and we know you're excited.
Hardcore fans of the franchise will undoubtedly want to spring for something special and in this case, that means choosing between one of two packages. SCEA has announced a couple of collector's editions for Insomniac's anticipated FPS:
The first is the Special Edition and will feature all the pre-order DLC (and there's a lot of it), a "vinyl effect" Blu-Ray disc, and a nifty steelbook case. But if you're willing to take the next step, you could pony up the cash for the Survival Edition, which boasts the items above along with a canvas satchel, a Chimera target poster, toy soldiers of humans and Chimera, a hip flask, and playing cards. No word yet on prices or region availability.
Also, if you check the PlayStation Blog, you can examine the retailer-specific pre-order bonuses. GameStop will give you a necklace comprised of Chimeran teeth plus a boost to Level 5 in multiplayer, Wal-Mart is offering five custom multiplayer titles, pre-ordering at Amazon will net you the Air Fuel Grenade for the story Mode, and Best Buy will give you the "viral inhibitor" character model.
Resistance 3 is slated to arrive on September 6.

Definitely interested in the Survival Edition, then again I am a sucker for Steelbook cases, that is why I was the only one to get MvC3's LE at its Midnight launch.

Anyway, I really like that LP look that they've done to their disc.
Maybe for R4, they can do the next BR done up as one of the old vinyl collectable picture discs too(I've got a bunch of them in my LP collections too, including all 4 picture discs of KISS, w/ each disc having a separate face of each member).

anyway, im a little disappointed with these editions.
sony normally comes out with decent collectors editions, albeit ludicrously expensive.
but neither of those really interest me.
wheres the art book?
what happened to the good old days where LEs came with a tour and look into how the game was made?
i remember watching think it was 3 hours of behind the scenes footage of MGS4 showing off all the interviews, meetings the devs had.
even the ones for GOW1 and 2 were freaking sweet!
why have they disappeared?
would love to see one for R3!
