Play As The Agile, Stealthy Catwoman In Arkham City

The Dark Knight is a powerful and popular hero. But there's another character that might draw your attention in Batman: Arkham City.

As revealed in a new GameSpot preview, Catwoman will be fully playable in the upcoming Batman quest. Players will even be able to upgrade her skills and abilities (including armor and various techniques), and the developers are taking great care to make Catwoman feel fresh and new in comparison to Batman's skillset. She'll even move differently, which isn't exactly surprising. But here's the best part- while Batman is always obliged to "do the right thing," so-to-speak, Catwoman doesn't really care that much about justice. Heck, she's Batman's enemy so you can imagine the differences in playing both characters... Also, don't forget that Catwoman can be veeeery stealthy, so take advantage!

As if we needed another reason to play Arkham City.

Don't forget that tight suit of hers!!
That always turns me on.

And is Catwoman exclusive to certain platform like how Joker was exclusive to PS3?

No she isn't. To quote the article at gamespot it says:

"Rocksteady's been holding back one pretty big reason fans should be fiending for the game: playable Catwoman. And, to be clear, this isn't "playable" in a special side mode like The Joker was in Arkham Asylum, this is "playable in the story" playable. We got an overview of this and a host of other new content at our sneak peek which even included some hands on time."

So you're not going to be playing as Catwoman first?

Maybe.

It might make sense to play as Catwomen first, sinces she's a criminal who robs and heists jewels or whatever, and then afterword play as Batman who puts a stop to her wrongdoing.

We'll have to see how it all works out though. ;)

my idea is play as batman first since its a batman game. mess with all the gadgets because thats what batman is about aside from investigation/detective stuff. then i'll try catwoman. without gadgets batman is just a regular detective, he has to have them. yeah, i'm still kinda burned about the last james bond movie. i dont think there was a single gadget in the whole movie, it was all about explosions. was a fan of james bond till the last 2 movies. was a fan of square enix till ff13. it seems like most the things i liked is taking a wrong turn. luckily rocksteady isnt the type of developer that would do that. batman arkham asylum is enough for me to trust them.

Oh yeah I'm more or less raised on JB movies but I never considered them to be more than extremely lightweight, one dimensional consumer products. Much like an action game with a very predictable story that's used just as an excuse to show off the graphics engine.

But Casino Royale changed all that. Layers upon layers with symbols, emotions, story, finer details, memorable moments, what a masterpiece of a movie.
The underwater scene where he lose his one love (and thus create the backdrop for the rest of the movies) still gives me the chills just thinking about it.

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to pick this game up, though I probably would have anyway.

BTW, PSN store is back online now! But not completely updated or functional. Hopefully that will be fixed really soon!

Ooh damn. Catwoman is playable? I suppose it only makes sense that she'll also be playable in online co-op then. Batman:AC just got bumped on my list for this year.
Peace.

P.S. LOL! One of the adverts on this page says inFamous 2 for the Xbox. I always knew that the folks at Harvey Norman were Xbots. That's why I haven't bought a single item from them in... ever actually. Plenty of other electronics stores to choose from.

I know Claire, but maybe they're teasing us like Ben with his TM announcement. What's the point of having two characters playable in the main campaign, if you can't team them up online?

I don't think announcing that there's no multiplayer is a tease. Maybe there's more to the single player aspect than we know.

That'd be cool enough if you simply unlocked her after beating the game, and she had her own little side story and mission types. ;)

With an optional unlock for the impatient/those who can't beat the game as a cheap download on psn.

your loss, got a 360 for 250 bucks the other day!
they had 20% off store wide, and i got a little extra on top of that.
they have been really cheap on allot of things actually, i got my G27 from them for 400 bucks, EB and JB wanted 560!
my Asus 3D monitor they gave to me for 600 when every other store, even ebay wanted 1000!
o, not to mention i got a 1TB external HDD and a 32GB sandisk USB flash drive for 100 bucks!

Hmm... You must have a better HN store than the one we have here, because they're the most expensive around locally.

computers yea NEVER buy a computer off them!
they get allot of "special" models from manufactures and thats why there so expensive on them.
thing about harvey norman is since they are such a big store and sell so much crap they can afford to undercut prices.
99% of the time i go in there and say can you give this to me at this price?
they say sure!
if i was to do that at another store like EB, JB or someone else 99% of the time they would say nah sorry thats too low.
HN can because they sell so much other crap they can make up for the lost revenue, but other stores since they dont sell as much as HN they cant.

... Not to mention the rest of the *huuuuge* Marvel catalogue of heroes.
Although I'd never say no thanks to *any* good Marvel game I actually think it's more fun to play as the lesser known heroes. That's what made X-men Legends and the Ultimate Alliances so much fun.
Some day they will get it right. It just have to happen. Maybe not this generation, but Marvel Gaming Heaven awaits in the horizon!

Sony Pictures does the Spiderman movies, so why do Activision get the game rights? Imagine one of Sony's first party studios behind the helm of a Spiderman game with their pedigrees. Even handing it off to High Impact Games or something.

Interesting point but if first party studios means Playstation exclusive then it will never happen. It's just not how Marvel do things. They've always aimed for the masses since the very beginning back in the days. To say "no thanks" to 50%(?) of the market is insanity to them.

What I wish though, is that they could forget the youngest share of the market now and then regarding their games. They took a baby step in the right direction with Wolverine, but generally the Marvel games are just too apparently designed to be safe within the "age 16" rating with good margins.
The average age of the Marvel fans of today are quite possibly twice that age, and many of their best stories are for an entirely different audience. They need to transfer the magic of their stories over to their games.

antivision own the rights to it, because they bought the comic license and the movies did not exist then.
spidermans my pick because, well, whats more fun then swinging around NYC so fast?
nothing!
id love to see them do a xmen game, origins was pretty good.
hopefully the new xmen game coming out at the end of the year is even better!
THANK GOD theres no movie tie in game this time!
really looking forward to first class, came out today.
