PlayStation Store Returns, More Content Arrives Tomorrow
Hey, so...the PlayStation Store is back.
While the content Sony promised as part of their "Welcome Back" package isn't up yet (it's "currently in the final stages of testing"), the Store has a been updated with a ton of other stuff.
Furthermore, as they said before, there will be another update this week - tomorrow - to throw even more content in our direction; this is an effort to catch up after the PSN was hacked back in April. We've already got a couple full games, a horde of DLC (including items for SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs, Killzone 3, and MotorStorm: Apocalypse), themes and avatars, a new Qore episode, downloadable titles like Alien Crush, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls, and Under Siege, and demos such as LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, Red Faction: Armageddon, and The Fight: Lights Out. Catch the full updated list at the PlayStation Blog.
As you might expect, the Store's downtime put us all a little behind. We'll try to deliver some reviews of downloadable games soon. But FYI, first up is Alice: Madness Returns (tonight), and DiRT 3.

There are two things that they need to ensure for future operation. First of all, customer and CC data needs to be encrypted and behind additional protection. CC data needs to be *very* strongly encrypted and on separate systems. The second thing is that they cannot allow a breach severe enough to knock out all of PSN again. It's a network, security is always an issue, denial of service attacks of one sort or another will continue forever. But Sony really has to be able to detect and terminate intrusions into the network before they reach sensitive data.
As long as that is the case, then I think they will be fine. People are slowly coming to terms with the lack of security perfection.
Sony could help things along by adding Paypal as a payment option too.

Now if I only could a cheap way to retrieve the 50+ games on my newly-broken 640GB HD, that one our US postal f*ck-up's also destroyed when they murdered my Phat Princess by smashing it while it was in transit to get a new Silver5 thermal pasting at Gophermods.

Hey Highlander,
Is there any way I can still cheaply retrieve that HD's data once again, even though my computer won't recognize it???
(BTW, I had a Staples computer tech test my HD on one of theirs, but he said that I'd have to take it to somebody who specializes in HD data retrievals, & that it would be well over a $1000 to do it).
Man oh man, I surly hope that isn't true.

I got a copy of ModNation Racers that included a voucher to get Sackboy and his mod but it was going to expire on May 25, 2011. While I was hoping that the code would work, I also thought of the possibility that it would not. Good job Sony for having the foresight to adjust the expiration dates!

you would think they were prepared for this, i mean come on its pretty obvious they were going to get hammered after being out for 6+ WEEKS!
as the saying goes........ if you cant handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen!
this is what happens when you let third parties run your features!
