Become A Career Criminal In SOE's PAYDAY: The Heist

Sony Online Entertainment has been forced to cancel The Agency, but another promising project is on the horizon.

SOE has announced PAYDAY: The Heist, "a high-intensity squad-based first person shooter where players take on the role of a hardened career criminal pulling death-defying heists in the never-ending pursuit of the 'big score.'" We'll need teamwork along with solid action reflexes to succeed, and we'll get all sorts of cool features, like co-op and supposedly "endless replayability." Said Christopher Sturr, SOE Executive Director of Business Development.

"As a leading publisher of independent titles for both the PlayStation®Network and PC, SOE continues to innovate in the digital space with new titles that engage players with high-energy, multi-faceted gameplay experiences. PAYDAY: The Heist is a premier quality downloadable game designed to deliver a unique spin on the first person shooter genre. As an intense, gritty and unapologetic episodic cooperative shooter, PAYDAY is packed with cocky attitude, epic Hollywood-inspired action and endless replayability."

The game boasts six "heart-stopping heists," and that includes everything from a bank robbery to a midnight infiltration of a top-secret, high-security facility. They also say that no scenario will ever play the same way twice, which of course adds to the longevity. PAYDAY: The Heist will be ready to go later this year on the PlayStation Network and PCs as a digital download.

Can you kill innocent people? If not I don't see the fun in this.

I have no idea, but until I get confirmation I'm a doubter. Obviously there are the security guards and police officers but I'm more interested in the female workers and families...

lol...wow totally coming off as a horrible person with this comment :)

World,

Carmegeddon2 had midgets that I fantasized as children.

hehe...the Rapelay discussion was a wonderful thing.

Haha... awesome comment. I always felt like GTA wasn't realistic enough cause there weren't any children to run over or harass.

I believe the original Fallout let you murder children.

Sounds interesting. I did like the idea of HEI$T before it was cancelled, someone should revive that. I mean you had to plan each robbery with the intel of shift changes and what not, and it had voice command capabilities where instead of saying "Get down!", you could say "MOTHER#@*#ERS GET ON THE F@#*ING GROUND BEFORE I KILL YOU ALL" and it would understand.

Still, in regards to this I'd have to see gameplay before I had an opinion on it.

The Agency sounded hella better. No interest in this kind of thing. Maybe a third person heist simulator but ehhhh.

I wonder.

Is it possible that the partially complete work of The Agency is in some way being used in the development of this title?

Maybe it's been a while since you last played with your PS2...it's not that bad! Not saying that PS2 was horrible though.

wonder if this has anything to do with that heist game codemasters were working on for a good 4 years till it got canned.
would of perfered the agency, but eh i guess it will do.
wish sony would put someone on making a L4D game, because i honestly cant see valve bringing it over to the ps3.
really craving some good zombie killing action, and cant buy it for PC or 360 because we got the crappy edited version!
GOW3s suitable for 15 year olds to play, but L4D2 is not?
what the ^%$#????????????????????????????

I'm not really interested in most PSN titles, but this one seems appealing.
