Survive The Chaos Of Dead Island On September 6

Lock up the kids and keep the squeamish and the easily offended away. Dead Island is coming.

Today, Techland and Deep Silver have revealed that the highly anticipated zombie slayer will arrive for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in North America on September 6. It shares the same release date as Insomniac's new shooter, Resistance 3, and follows hot on the heels of Techland's other promising project, Call of Juarez: The Cartel, which is slated for a late summer release. Dead Island is the horrid and brutal story of vacationers on an island resort that is suddenly overrun by a terrible virus. Players will choose between four distinct character classes (leader, tank, jack-of-all-trades, and assassin), and we'll have to somehow survive the onslaught. There's a new E3 trailer for it, too, but it's just too out-of-control for me to embed here. If you haven't eaten recently, feel free to check it out.

We'll be interested to see how this one turns out...we're pretty sure there's gonna be lots and lots of blood.

Oh good lord, *another* zombie game? They're getting as bad as shooters...

Brains...

Brains.....

Braaiiinnnnssss.....

These Zombie games need to be changed up, this constant chasing after brains and then being slain for being a zombie is just too repetitive.

I think we need a game that is more like this...

Boobies...

Boobies...

Booooobiiieeesss...

And of course the player is hunting down the owners of these spectacular assets to take pictures. Oh, wait, that's DOA Paradise on the PSP, a game which has been described unflatteringly by many people.

Still, I wonder, which is more socially acceptable, splattering zombies in an endless stream of gory zombie slayings, or trying to convince a pretty (and busty) virtual girl that you like her an only want to give her a new bikini so you can take pictures...

You know, when you put it that way, those boobies sound pretty socially redeeming to me.

Yes, I'm only joking a little bit.

This game IS switching up the zombie genre. It appears to play a lot more like Fallout than anything else.

Vitual Boobies ftw.

It's changed up? Cool, so we get...

Topless zombies?

Topless zombies with boobies?

Topless zombies with boobies that can be restored to human form?

Oh, in that case, it's day 1 purchase.

;)

They got boobie games...Leisure Suit Larry, in fact they need more of those games, but with a 21+ mature rating.

Can't wait for this. A huge open world with slow zombies and RPG elements? AND multiplayer for zombie enthusiasts? Could be a day 1.

... Not to mention 4 player coop! Not sure if it is campaign coop or separate coop missions though. Hopefully storyline, if not I bet it's just "survive the waves" style coop. Boring. :(

The trailers are looking good. Erm, World, some of those Zomz are freakin' fast! (like 28 days later fast). Apparently , in this game, the ones that were infected first start to pick up speed with time.

saw the new trailer. doesn't look like the awesome, emotional, "hey, this zombie game will be more than shooting, there's a story!" first trailer

The exploration element and the nice visuals have my interest peaked. However, zombies are so very boring. Plus, the combat from the gameplay video didn't look all that good. Will have to wait and see. =(

I actually can't wait for this game. It reminds me of l4d and l4d2. But perhaps that's because its an fps zombie game.

My girl really like l4d/2 when we had our 360, so I wanna pick this up for her and I.

So hopefully it delivers.

Totally looking forward to DI. I need more zombie-killing goodness. The only reason I prioritize that over R3 is because I haven't played 1 or 2 yet, and I'm not made of money.

Looks pretty good. The electric reminds me a little of Dead Rising. I also call the assassin class a head of time ( I think it is the one chick from 1:08 in the video)

Was I the only one who thought the rapper guy sounds a lot like Rico?

After seeing the in-game videos, it's not a whole lot different than L4D other than the missions NPC's give and driving vehicles. It's more melee based but L4D can be played melee the whole way through as well. Still picking it up though since I'm a sucker for good zombie entertainment.
