E3 2011: Far Cry 3, New Brothers In Arms Revealed
It's Ubisoft's turn at E3 and like most publishers, they're revealing some new games and release dates.
Among them is Far Cry 3, the next installment in the critically acclaimed shooter series. In development at Ubisoft Montreal (with support from Ubisoft Shanghai and Massive Entertainment), this new iteration will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC some time next year.
Players will assume the role of Jason Brody, "a man alone at the edge of the world, stranded on a mysterious tropical island." It's a "savage paradise" where chaos reigns and violence is commonplace, but players will be able to make choices and choose their own fights. As for the gameplay, we'll "slash, sneak, detonate and shoot their way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong."
For more, visit the game's official website. Added Dan Hay, producer at Ubisoft Montreal:
"Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand. Whether you're already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you're going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we're going to deliver."
Ubisoft also unveiled Brothers in Arms Furious 4, which is in development at Gearbox Software. This one will hit the PS3, 360 and PC in the first half of 2012. Unsurprisingly, the new franchise entry is set once again in World War II; they're describing this experience as a "brutal first person shooter that offers an exciting campaign mode playable with up to four players in co-op, as well as an extensive competitive multiplayer mode." Players will use special weaponry and a few "unexpected combat abilities" to battle Hitler's evil.
Check the game's official site for more info. Said Adam Novickas, U.S. director of marketing at Ubisoft:
"The Brothers in Arms franchise has been renowned for its gritty direction that has dropped players into the middle of World War II. With Brothers in Arms Furious 4, Gearbox brings the action to a whole new level filled with unexpected twists and over-the-top battles that are sure to please new players and fans alike."

BiA Furious 4 is a pretty blantant rip off of Inglorious Bastards. No interest here in playing it based off the trailer. Kinda want to go back and watch the movie though.

It seems the anti-PS3 folks are desperate to use anything to crack Sony and the PS3 over the head with. If it's not that internal clock from last year now it's d-bags hacking PSN.
It's about games people.

Far Cry 3 was my first open word game on the ps3 that I *truly* enjoyed.
It looked really good and it is the closest to an illusion of playing in a living open world I've experienced so far.
Also, the size of it, with the long driving distances, were really, really cool. It's what most have complained about regarding the game but I sincerely hope they have not done anything with that in FC3, it's an important reason why it felt so "real" to play the game.
Just please please with sugar on top, this time around *PLEASE* include storyline coop. To fumble around in FarCry along with a buddy, cooperating in taking down the defense of some bad guys castle would be a dream come true.
