E3 2011: DMC Sales Hit 10 Million, New Film On The Way
Okay, so he looks like a heroin addict. The game could still rule. And so could the live-action film adaptation.
During Capcom's E3 press conference, they made a few DMC-related announcements, including the fact that the franchise has topped the 10 million sales mark. They also confirmed the aforementioned film; Capcom will be collaborating with Sony Pictures' Screen Gems. The movie will be based on the upcoming new installment, a reboot currently in development at Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory. The film is being written by Kyle Ward, who has penned screeplays for Kane & Lynch and Hitman, and in general, we figure the long-time DMC fans should be intrigued. Unfortunately, Capcom didn't provide us with an estimated launch date for Devil May Cry. It'll continue to be a common topic of conversation, though.
So who has high hopes for this film? Could be good.

Looks like someone didn't read the words at the very beginning of the video that clearly state's "WORK IN PROGRESS" were you really expecting an all the way finished trailer of 100% smooth game-play. As far as level design is concerned I don't exactly remember any of the older DmC titles having such GRAND inspired level design either, you spent most your in dark rooms or some kinda of tower/cathedral structure (with the exceptions of certain parts of DMC4.)
We probably won't see the Finished product for another two years, that's plenty of time for them polished.
To me they're off to a good start (for this to still be a work in progress) and again to me it looks very promising. I can say that because I always played DMC for the action I honestly couldn't get into the original storyline like everyone else.

I really hope Capcom has some technical people overseeing this project as we all know Ninja Theory can't do squat with UE3 for multiplat.

On a side note, this "Wii U" console hasn't grabbed me yet. I need to see some real games in action. I find it funny how people say "I'm getting this game for Wii U" when they really haven't seen the specs or know how well it runs.

Besides, with Ninja Theory at the helm, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it for what it is. HS and Enslaved weren't masterpieces, but they both had fantastic animation and voice acting, as well as top-notch, connectable stories. If DmC follows that route, and keeps Dante as a smart-as, I'm sure that I'll be able to get over the character change.
Peace.

a new IP releases, if its received well a new one releases 3 or so years later and brings so much new to the series.
then if thats received well, every year we get a new title with maybe 1% as many new features as the original 2 brang.
cough assassins creed!
oh how i wished gaming stayed in that stereotype, only kids living in there mothers basements play them!
1 then we would not have these crappy kiddy/ soccer mom games!
2 we would be seeing proper innovation in series, instead of the yearly milk fest!

In regards to the game..I simply can't get amped up for it..I loved the DMC series but this just doesn't mix well with me. I have no issues with rebooting the series even though it didn't need to be.
You turn around and give the main character a complete make over. He looks strung out on coke..And to think, I was pissed about the new Cole from inFamous..He's far more acceptable then this new version of Dante...

I can honestly see that happening here I can see this new DmC gaining a new fanbase (and it's clear to me noe that that's what NT and Capcom are clearly after, which makes me feel bad for the old DMC fans) but at the same time losing a little over half of the original fanbase.
Ther still a good chance that it could do well (sells wise) it's possible it can happen....

The film however not so much as we all know the story behind movies based on games, with that that said hopefully it doesn't suck to much..
To be honest I really don't want to see anymore movies based on games though, but well see.
