E3 Attendance Revealed, Event May Leave Los Angeles
E3 2011 is over and the annual event will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center next year.
However, that may not be the case in 2013. According to a new LA Times report, the current contract between city officials and the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) will expire after the 2012 show, and while the ESA would prefer to keep E3 in LA, they are considering other possible locations. For now, though, it's a "wait and see" situation. As for attendance, E3 2011 was the best-attended event in the past five years: a total of 46,800 people showed up, which brought in an estimated $25 million in revenue for the city. The attendee number is up a little over last year, which saw 45,600 journalists, retailers, industry bosses, and analysts. For the record, the 2006 show holds the attendance record of over 60,000; remember, the PlayStation 3 - set to launch later that year - was on tap.
Personally, I say forget LA. Do Paris. I wanna go.

It is a great efficient city to host such an event and it could also invigorate Asian developers to be more in touch with their western counter parts. It would also mean I could attend easily too :)
But then again, having TGS already in Asia, there may not be a reason too bring E3 to Asia specifically. If E3 represents the industry in the West I guess it would need to stay either in the States or Europe at best...

Firstly tes, from your post it seems you don't know where Singapore is.
Singapore is no where near China. It is an independent nation tucked under the Southern tip of Malaysia. The majority of people are from Chinese decent but they don't call themselves Chinese, they call themselves Singaporean.
Do have a read about Singapore on Wikipedia... there is a wealth of knowledge about the country should you want to educate yourself about the country.
Singapore has very stringent intellectual property rights, and in no way did the PS3 hack source emanate from Singapore; main land China possibly, but definitely not Singapore. Main land China is several thousand kilometers away from Singapore to the North. Singapore is also a top place to host conventions and the like from all over the world, and they have done so for the past 20 years with great success... especially the big economic forums and other high profile events...
I stand by my opinion that Singapore would be a great place to host an E3 like show... It has the capacity, city and hotels to do it, and it would be a great location in the tropics.
Tes37, always best to inform ones self before making comments that maybe slightly off... By the way, Sony is already based in Singapore, running a number of its business units out of the country for its South East Asian HQ.

(I don't even live there, why would I want this?)
To be honest though, the best locations for the event are going to be within the US. Stay in L.A. or move it to New York.
I would rather attend as a presenter than as a guest anyway. One day... one day.

Taking it out of America would be great though but I don't see that happening.
