Soul Calibur V: New Fighters, Character Creation Returns
Soul Calilbur VSoul Calibur V looks great. Just about anyone who went hands-on at E3 will agree, too.
And for all you fighting fans, Namco has revealed a few new details: firstly, they say "half the roster" consists of all new characters we've never seen before. Secondly, and this ought to satisfy the hardcore SC aficionados, character creation will return! This was a definite fan favorite in SCIV and we have to assume this popular mechanic will be even more diverse and in-depth in the fifth installment. Oh, and although no fighting game really needs a great storyline, Namco wants to focus a bit more on the plots next time around. This is primarily to flesh out all those new characters and give 'em backgrounds and personalities, or so we assume. Overall, there will be between 20 and 30 characters in the game, which certainly sounds like a decent roster. Who's your favorite?
I remember being pretty damn good with Maxi and Ivy. Of course, that was a loooong time ago.

All I hope is that the character creation is actually good.
I've seen ps2 games with better character creators.

The same bulky or super skinny body types? (Extremely limiting)
The same 5 eye presets?
And the same 10 hairstyles?
That's NOT what you call a good character creator.
The costumes are well made, never complained about that (that's how you were able to make these FF characters). But look at the models...and tell me they're just not rehashed eyes, hairs, and body types?

You can change the body type significantly, unfortunately if you want big tits you have to give the women a big body, lol.
I do hope there are more faces and stuff in the new one though. The faces are always an issue.

Anyway, i think her & Cassandra are gone, Sophie being replaced by Pyrrha, (her daughter) & the new boy, Patroklos (Sophitia's son) replacing Cas, or maybe the other way round? Either way i'm in the same boat as you fans, i hope they're both in the game.
I love Soul Calibur but this one is going to feel alien with so many faces missing. We could be looking at a SC without Taki, Maxi, Ivy, Tira, Kilik, Talim etc all absent.
Immortal characters will most likely return because they don't have this ridiculous 17 year age gap bs Namco have going, so guys like Zasalamel, Cervantes & Astaroth will likely make the cut.
I'm stoaked about character creation returning & i'm thrilled about the possible candidates for guest characters (Bayonetta is rumoured) & i'd love Kratos to make it in like he was in Broken Destiny.
But like many, i am pissed & worried about the fate of some of my fave characters. Do not lose Taki, Ralph, Ivy, Amy, Kilik, Sophie, Setsuka or Hilde, i hope atleast half of those are in.
I think this game will be brilliant but i have a feeling this series fanbase will take a dent if they chop out too many of the iconic characters.

I do not like Hilde AT ALL. I don't hate her as a character, but I can't begin to count how many times players players do ringouts with 'that' combo.

Yeah same here mate, i'll keep my expectations at the door until i see footage of her. She may be included as a boss, hell i'd take that, especially if shes unlockable like Algol was in SCIV.
In response to Hilde, you guys are dead on about how annoying she can be to fight against. She's great to use because she mixes up short & long ranged attacks but if you play against her in a ring out arena, nine times out of ten (atleast in my experience) you will get ringed out every time.
She is one of the best "ring out" characters imo.
I hope she returns, shes fairly fresh to the franchise so i can't imagine them throwing her out just yet.
Also, those lips.....

Glad I'm not the only one. Sexy while fully clothed = win.
Actually, the "oozing sex" that all the female (and some male?) characters do in that game is the worst thing about it for me. It's distracting and makes me feel like a creep. :(
I wish there was a "tone down the boobies" option in the game. I suppose I could always make all the scantily clad women wear more clothes, though. That's not a bad idea.
