Kojima's Intriguing Comments On MW3 And Battlefield 3
So who would've thought Hideo Kojima would comment on the two biggest shooters of the year?
Well, his statements are bound to spark some definite discussion. Kojima posted on his Twitter page a pair of comments that address Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, and he believes the two titles are significantly different:
"If 'COD MW3' is a Hollywood-ish action play, 'BF3' is more like documentary. While play-related rail games are the mainstream after the success of 'COD' and 'Uncharted,' this stoic attitude is fresh."
While it's true that recent CoD entries feel very much like big-budget Hollywood movies, we're not entirely sure of what to expect from Battlefield 3. Kojima's words imply a definite difference between two games in the same genre and indeed, gamers are expecting different experiences. But how do you feel about Kojima's response to these shooters; might his description be accurate?

Well, I don't think I have ever read a criticism written so....respectfully.
Im kidding, of course, but the double standard needed to be addressed at least once. Now it's all water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. And who would know more about water under a bridge than the resident 'troll', aye?

Although the series has grown stale with me, it is still the highest selling/grossing single entertainment piece. Saturating the market with COD every year may have bored some gamers, but not all of them.
Myself, I prefer the more realistic approach that BF3 is striving for. I will probably pick up MW3 for the single player only, but will absolutely pick up BF3 for everything it has to offer.

THAT'S the way a normally functioning social being would communicate their disagreement, and it is your inability to express your opinion so tactfully as they have that has given you the label you have. Opinion is often respected. One such as yours will surly be challenged on a site like this where there is a gathering of people who come here specifically because they support Sony gaming. And that's fine. But your -presentation- of your opinion is what people take exception to.
And that is the point Ben has been so frustrated about not being able to get across to you.
The "double standard" was addressed by Ophidian before your post. Which means, of course, there is no double standard as socially apt members are more than capable of properly addressing their concerns.
I mean... look at your post. It's sarcastic and calls out a group of anonymous people. You could be referring to anyone. It is BOUND to ruffle feathers needlessly. Your lack of tact is ever apparent.
Trolling is making posts specifically to upset a group of people. Sometimes that's called flaming. It's what you do! As a result, your precious "opinion" is not heard because you consistently fail to present it in a way that is respectful and allows people to acknowledge it as acceptable behavior.
I truly don't get why that's so hard to comprehend.

I am only going to do this one more time. When I said 'water under the bridge', I truly meant it. Not sure why you think this needs to continue, but I'll indulge this one last time.
I completely understand what you and Ben are saying, I just don't agree with it. Bear with me here:
"COD is the dumb Hollywood flashy, lazy, sprinkles on poo game."- is NOT a tactful statement but is acceptable because the majority of gamers here do not like CoD.
"Uncharted is the dumb Hollywood flashy, lazy, sprinkles on poo game.";- is NOT a tactful statement and is unacceptable because the majority of gamers here love Uncharted.
That is what I meant by 'double standard'. I get it, though. If it's going to cause trouble, don't use extreme dialogue. But if I want to rant a bit, I kinda feel that I'm entitled to it as long as I don't go to extremes like calling people sheep or just harassing other posters' comments with my opinion. I guess that's what I was trying to say. But I've gotten my Uncharted 3 stuff out. So I won't repeat it.
As far as this post I have NO problem with Soul Controller saying what he said. I realized around the third 'Xbox ain't all that bad' debate that I can't change anyone's opnion. So I wasn't attacking him. Yes, I was being a smart ass about the whole 'tact' situation, but I've got a successful marriage and business and a family that loves me, all while being one. It's just how I am. I gotta rib someone. Don't take it to heart. There is absolutely no malice intended.
So that's my story.

BF3's progress from Bad Co. 2 is incredible, and you and every other CoD Fanboy on this site knows it. The footage from E3 is simply amazing.

Whilst I prefer Battelfield over COD, both have appeal to lots of people … but neither (for me at least) would scratch the right royal a$$ that is Solid Snake!
Agree with everyone that anticipation for another Kojima (not Konami) title is very high on the list of “I hope that’s coming soon” … “Snake … Snake … Snaaaaaaaaake!” …

If I had to choose between a war documentary and a Hollywood action, I actually think I'd prefer the action movie rather than another sad, depressive documentary.
Neither of those movie genres interests me the slightest though, but if I *had* to, I'd choose the action one.
However I'm still most interested in BF3...

I've been trying to find the perfect way to describe the difference between CoD and battlefield without going into all the details everytime.
Kojima's statement has given me a new way of describing it very quickly to people deciding between one or the other.
I love documentaries, a far more enriching and fulfilling experience than a blockbuster action movie.
Any good action movie stays with you for a few days. A good documentary stays with you for a few years. Just look at Planet Earth with David Attenborough and compare it to the Transformers movies. As a 24 year old, I like quality experiences, and Planet Earth was an experience.
Like CoD, Transformers only managed to entertain me for a few hours.

Planet Earth is like *the* documentary of the millennium. At least compare it with Lord Of The Rings or even Harry Potter for that matter. Or the entire James Bond movie collection. Or all of the above. just not.. Transformers (the game aint half bad though).
Planet Earth is *fantastic*. It's way above just being a documentary, it's art, history, it's... Magic!

If any of you guys are looking for one Blu-rai to really show off what HD can look like, get Planet Earth.
BBC used Hollywood quality cameras during the recording of this wildlife documentary, and the result is, well, out of this world.

CoD is more what Hollywood wants a combat zone to look like, and Battlefield is more like what an actual battlefield looks like.
I'm paraphrasing myself but you get the idea. Cool to know that one of the biggest names in gaming shares my sentiment on the issue.
