Kojima: All Our Major Titles Will Support "Transfarring"
It's such a funny name. I just like saying it.
And it's a great idea, too: "transfarring" will let you transfer your game saves from the PlayStation 3 to the PSP and the upcoming PlayStation Vita, giving us more incentive to own both gaming devices. This feature will first support Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. It's way cool and here's the good news: according to a recent Kojima Productions podcast, "transfarring" will be available in all future Kojima titles. Said Kojima:
"We have a plan moving forward, where all of our major titles will have this transfarring functionality. So you’ll buy the next big game from Kojima Productions on PS3, and there’ll also be an NGP version [PSVita] and take it on the go."
That sounds like something the hardcore MGS fans are gonna love; why not take our favorite games on the go? Why not play 'em in our living rooms, "transfar" them to our handheld device, and keep playing outside the home? It's a brave new world and although we don't like all the new advancements, this one seems like a winner.
And does it mean Rising will hit the Vita...?

assuming i read that correctly the MGS HD collection will come with the ps3 and psv versions so you wont have to purchase both versions.
hope this is a step every publisher will take, as you said buying all the ps3 games we want is too expensive let alone buying them AND psv AND psv games!

as for what kojima was upset about...who knows? he said something he had delicately worked on for a year was rendered meaningless. i took that as the announcement of psp remaster games blowing the lid on peacewalker appearing on the ps3. you could also take his quote as meaning one of his projects got cancelled, but you would think kojima has the clout to make any game he wants.

i share your sentiments about konami. it's not just konami either. it's all those japanese companies that for some reason turned their back on sony at the start of this gen. they all covet the na market so badly they are willing to throw out their traditional ways just to get a presence on the 360. most of those franchises have seen a notable drop in quality plus the companies that got in bed with ms all seemed to loose money. so i don't think those companies such as square, capcom, konami, and namco gained as much as they think they have by supporting ms.

Anyway I wonder how popular this will be since people don't much like to buy the same thing twice. Like Highlander, realism tells me they can't just be giving a game away free, but man if you've bought a PS3, a Vita, AND the game it's not like they don't have a bunch of your money. Blu Rays come with digital pack ins now too, but that pack in didn't require a whole different development cycle.
If and when I get a velvita I think I'll stick to my old practice, console games at home and portable games on the go. No need to mix the two.
