Platinum Boss: Give Us Devil May Cry, We're Ready
Hey, we have all the faith in the world in Ninja Theory. They should be able to produce a great Devil May Cry reboot.
But it's often fun to play the "what if" game; i.e., "what if another developer got a hold of the DMC rights from Capcom?" And the inevitable follow-up question is, "which developer?"
Well, what about Platinum Games? These guys did Bayonetta and Vanquish; they know how to make a bad-ass action game. The studio's designer, Hideki Kamiya, said his team would "be ready" if Capcom ever came to them with the Devil May Cry name. According to his Twitter page, he simply said "Sure, we're ready" when a fan asked if the studio would take on the project, provided Capcom offered. Hey, if they can do Bayonetta, they can do just about any fast-paced action title extremely well, right?
It certainly makes you think...let's combine our favorite franchises with the best developers out there. It's a fun game to play. Again, though, we don't want to take anything away from Ninja Theory; we really enjoyed Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

I'm sure you're not the only one who likes Dante's Inferno over God of War.
But to also prefer Ninja Theory's DmC to Bayonetta (creator of DMC) just adds to this weird taste you have in action/adventure games World.
I don't know, NT's DMC won't sell, trust me last thing you wanna do is reboot a series that didn't need a reboot.

It wasn't NT's idea to reboot DmC, they are just making the game. It wasn't even their idea to make Dante look silly, Capcom shot down everything that looked like old Dante but loved this radical heroin guy.
For all I know it will be bad, but I don't think NT will have Dante scooting on his butt or traversing levels that have no background but open space.
Inferno had a real story besides "kill em all" that was thought provoking and payed homage to a great piece of literature and it had more useful gameplay elements and actual, interesting levels instead of a constant circumnavigation of the same few claustrophobic areas.
Hmmm, that's enough for now.

DMC is a very Japanese game. And NT's very much a western studio. So, in this case, I'd trust the real parent over the foster parent.

Capcom, you heard them, they would love to EVOLVE the DMC franchise.
I'm amazed that Kamiya actually said "sure" since he was the original DMC creator. I thought he'd be bitter about all this reboot crap and say "hell no!"
Heavenly Sword was great and Enslaved was good but Ninja Theory's DMC reboot will never be as good as DMC1/DMC3. Let the creator of the series evolve the franchise again!

I liked Heavenly Sword, and the Enslaved demo was pretty cool, but I've noticed Ninja Theory have problems on the technical side of things. Screen tearing, glitches, the odd problem with controls or the odd bit of lag in controls in places...
Sure Ninja Theory have creativity and style, and it REALLY shows, but on the technical side of things their games seem to come out looking unfinished. Had Enslaved or Heavenly Sword had more time, I reckon the glitches could've been smoothed out and a fantastic game would have shone through.
Platinum seems to be better on a technical level, few glitches and problems with Bayonetta (at least on 360) and their artwork was pretty cool too.
Fanboysim aside, I honestly would prefer Platinum to take on DMC, just because Bayonetta was a great example of how that hack n slash genre can be done very well.
Just no cheesy music this time, please?

I prefer symphonies, choirs and orchestras to highlight epic events in video games, it offers an almost timeless classic vibe to anything in touches, making an outageous event seem epicin scope. Worked well for God of War and Halo.

i kind agree with world that bayo's level design, and characters were terrible. platinum's games haven't exactly lit up sales charts, either. both vanquish and bayo bombed in terms of sales.
i guess it comes down to where nt is takng dante. i gotta admit i'm not a fan of their redesign of dante.

"If Sucker Punch can change Cole back to what fans like, Ninja Theory can change Dante back too."
No! they can't! They're original designs WERE close to what the old Dante used to look like, but Capcom said NO, they did not want that what they wanted was a completely different look.
So with that being said it really doesn't matter which studio is working on it, if the Employers who own the rights to the games want it to be made a certain way then that's how the Employees have to make it.
Let's say platinum games were the ones given the project, with Hideki Kamiya being the originator of the character there would be conflicting matters at hand because Hideki would want to keep his character the same and Capcom would want something else, they'd probably just end up passing the project to someone else anyway.

Bayonetta, if you could look past the love/hate lead character & cheesy pop music, is a masterpiece. The combat system is as deep as any action game in recent memory, which is why i believe it is head & shoulders above every other game of it's kind out there.
I mean we could all say lets hand the DMC franchise back to Capcom, but look what Capcom did to Resident Evil 5? It became Gears of War because of Capcoms anal vision of turning everything Western.
I'm well & truly on the fence about DmC right now but i am hopeful of Ninja Theory delivering on it's promise. But if it came down to it, i'd rather Platinum Games got the project because Bayonetta alone is proof in the pudding that these guys can create a dazzling action game with combat deeper than Bill Gates pockets.
Btw, DMC HD collection is pretty much confirmed, if you guys weren't aware. Next up, give me Onimusha HD collection too, please Capcom.

Yeah it's the 10th anniversary collection of DMC which will include all three DMC games including the special edition of DMC3 which i'm smitten about.
I reckon it's about time too. I'm guessing Onimusha is the next victim to get massaged with the HD cream too. It was one of Capcoms big franchises back on PS2 & needs to be brought back to remind us all why we need another one.

Also, DMC 10th Anniversary Collection exclusively on Playstation 3 from November 30th. THAT WILL BE MINE!!!!
EDIT: As for dream mash-ups, how about NT doing Bioshock 3? Sucker Punch doing an Assassin's Creed game and SOMEONE doing Valkyria Chronicles 4 for the PS3? Media Molecule doing Mario? Guerilla Games doing Resistance? How about just releasing Eight Days?

Some devs haven't had 3 chances at bat before they're out.
