Amy Details: Run, Fight, Hide, Survive
The PlayStation Network has seen several defining downloadable experiences in past years; Joe Danger, Flower, Shatter, etc.
And another such title might be the creepy and impressive-looking Amy, a fresh survival/horror adventure that will hit the PSN later this year. The upcoming project from Paul Cuisset (Flashback), this game will attempt to bridge the gap "between innovative indie PSN games and very ambitious Blu-ray titles."
A whole lot of new info, along with a behind-the-scenes video, has been posted up at the PlayStation Blog. First it gives you the background and setting: it's 2034, global warming is worse, and various diseases are spreading. The town of Silver City has been hit by a particularly nasty virus that transformed the people into vile creatures, and now, playing as the main character Lana, you must try to escape. You can survive by finding medical equipment and working in tandem with Amy.
Amy is a little girl who can't speak but somehow stops the contamination from reaching you, and can even heal you by holding your hand (temporarily, at least). You can use Amy's small stature to squeeze into areas that would be otherwise inaccessible, and she'll even help you explore the environment. Kids are curious, after all. Gameplay is more about survival than battle as you try to escape with Amy; the team's goal "is to make you feel the fragility" of the characters. Hiding is often a better option but there are various tactics you can employ. Heck, you can even use your own infection...if you must.
No inventory, just a few makeshift weapons, whatever strategy you can devise, and a mysterious little girl to help out.

As for me I don't care really. A good game is a good game.

The "healing by holding her hand" detail stroke a chord for sure.
