inFamous 2 Hits PSN, Ape Escape Coming Soon
If you haven't picked up inFamous 2 yet, there's now another option.
As revealed at the PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch's latest addictive gem is now available in downloadable form on the PlayStation Network. Furthermore, if you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can play up to 1 hour of the game as part of a free trial. You'll even nab Trophies during that hour and we can pretty much guarantee that when it cuts you off, you will rush to download the full version. It'll cost the same amount as the regular retail copy; $59.99. Also, don't forget that the original inFamous is available for free as part of Sony's "Welcome Back" program after the recent PSN ordeal.
In other news, don't forget that PlayStation Move Ape Escape will drop in the US on July 5 and if you want to try it out beforehand, make sure to try out the demo on June 28. This colorful, entertaining title is already out in Europe but that's okay; we hold no grudges. After all, European gamers deserve some special treatment every now and then.

And... Is it just me, or are the controls really laggy? I press X and it takes a bit for Sonic to jump.
Although I will applaud them for getting Sonic's running animation right.

Cool, though.
Yeah, tried that Sonic demo... yeah, I don't think Sonic was ever THAT good to begin with. I have to say I was mildly let down by it. Not so much that the demo doesnt accurately recreate Sonic, but just that my memory of 16-bit Sonic play was better than what it actually is. I was also surprised that the demo didn't run at 60fps. Sort of seems mandatory for a fast side scroller like Sonic....
So I tried to also download the Sonic demo off of XBLM to compare them... uumm. so I have to have an active Gold membership to access a 20 day time restricted demo? What kind of lameness is that? How could Sega have agreed to that bull crap. Oh yeah, here's your budget remake game to glorify the Sonic of yore, test before you buy, but it's behind "gold" bars...

But it just seems stupid & super petty if you ask me, & all it's doing is keeping the developers and publishers from maybe getting a sale that much faster.
But I think Sony also does that too sometimes with their Playstation Plus too.

Also, I was able to pick up the first two Assassin's Creeds off the PSN for $10 each. Again, I'm not saying that you can't get either game elsewhere for cheaper, but you I know you can't at either gamestop or amazon (for consoles, at least).

For the most part, what I said was opinionated, that's why I said, 'I think'. You don't know the answer either, because I was referring to the future with silly words like 'ultimately lead to "fewer" discounts'. I'm not saying you don't make a good point, but you cited only a couple of references that aren't indicative of game sales as a whole.
Every time I see a digital download it is the same price or higher than the physical copy.

That's the second reason I boycott D/L games(and as I'm a collector, you already know my first reason).

It does not *have* to be like this, though. If you look at more open d/l markets, Android market being the prime example, you'll find prices to be really, really low, even on highly advanced and really well made apps.

In my opinion it's simply obvious that those "apps" would be at an entirely different price level had it been a part of an open market.
When games distributed with *no* distribution cost to speak of, no material production cost at all, hardly no marketing cost or no storage costs are priced *higher* than comparable games on the physical, traditional market, then something is seriously wrong.

those are great points about psn's pricing. they have the nerve to price the digital version at the same price as a boxed copy? that's just nuts. i would love to ask sony how they can justify it being at the same price as the boxed release. that's exactly why the psp go was dead on arrival.
not only was the selection of psp games available rather low, but the pricing of the games were higher than the umd releases. it's almost mind boggling that sony ever thought that was a viable business model.

Basically, if the game is worth $60 to play, then it doesn't matter if I have to drive to the store or wait for it to come through the mail, or watch a movie while it downloads. The game is the same and that's what matters to me.
Don't get me wrong though, If they decide that they want to charge to less for downloaded games...awesome! But until then, I'm pretty ok with paying the same cost for the same experience.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record - anyone who enjoys FPSs, and prefers Mouse & Keyboard - you need the Move. I'm never buying a FPS that doesn't support it. If it doesn't take off I'm gonna have to get a computer since I just can't go back to dual analogues.
For those who prefer shooters with dual analogues, you'd change your tune if there was no auto-aim. Auto-aim is the Devil's work, and is only in place because dual analogues are a PITA!

i thought DD games were suppose to be CHEAPER not more expensive!
89 bucks on the AU PSN store, but then i saw it at bigW yesterday for 70!
rented ape escape today to see what it was like..... oh $ony what have you done to my favorite mascots!?
first they dig up J&D and sly and piss on them with the crappy PSMH mini game, and now they do the same with one of my favorite ps1 games!
sigh.
$ony do me a favour, if this is how your going to treat your past, leave it in the graveyard!
this has made me not want them to do a medievil remake, god knows what they would do to it!

I know there are a lot of collectors here, but outside of that, is having a box you can hold really that important? Does the experience of playing the game change at all when you go to the store to buy it?
I just picked up inFamous as part of the welcome back package. But before then, I'd been meaning to get it as a $30 download and just never got around to it. Obviously it's a pretty amazing game, but would it have been any better if I'd bought it at Gamestop instead?
