Sucker Punch Will Produce A Third inFamous Title
Many are wondering if Sucker Punch will give us another inFamous. I'm here to tell you that it's basically inevitable.
There are several obvious pieces of evidence that point towards inFamous 3: firstly, Sony almost never fails to support top-quality franchises, even those that don't always generate blockbuster installments. Secondly, although one could make the argument that Sucker Punch defines its legacy with Sly Cooper, the current truth of the matter is that inFamous put them on the map this generation. They are now esteemed, respected, and what may be infinitely more important in this big-business industry, recognized. Thirdly and lastly, Sony understands the need for AAA exclusives, as they are indeed hardware sellers.
There's almost no doubt that Sucker Punch will continue to expand, and they'll try new things. In fact, it seems they're working on an all-new IP right now. But there's little to no chance they won't return to inFamous at some point. Having the original title hit the way it did is like striking gold for such a studio; it opens doors that weren't open before but despite new possibilities, smart development teams don't forget the trigger. And if Sucker Punch seems like they might forget, I'm fairly certain Sony will remind them.

They could always have you playing as Kessler, gaining your powers later and fleeing from the Beast, beating down Alden to take control of the First Sons, then carrying through with all of the fleshing out that was done in the seqiel, then bring it up to the detonation. Or they could have you playing as an all new Conduit in a storyline that overlaps with Cole's tale. Even without the Cole we know as the lead, there are quite a few ways to take it.

Yes a prequel game was exactly what I was thinking the other day. Hopefully we'd have more of Kesslers stronger abilities that we saw in the final boss fight of the original. I can already see the dodge roll mechanic changed to a teleportation/dash like ability. You could still do karmic choices for sure even though Kessler may have been too weak to fight the beast (emotionally and physically) he always had the good intentions for you to save the world from the beast.

You're right on that Kevinater, but I was trying to imply a side-story, rather than a follow-up. Playing as someone like Nix or Kuo, or even John how their story interacts with Cole's.
Teddie, you also have to thinkthat there is quite a bit that went on with Kessler that we don't already know about. We have a rough idea of the things that he did, but that only goes so far. At the same time, I feel that it would be a regression. I mean, it would ultimately lead back to the way the original was done with your Karma having no impact on the end... unless they decided to splinter the timeline further, have Kessler decide not to detonate it, or rather use it again on himself, and then who knows where it could go?

Seriously, how could Sony even think of letting inFamous finish? I only wonder how they'll thread the two endings together, or if they'll follow one of the two...
Peace.

Infamous 2 has been my favorite game so far this year.
And I now officially joined the Infamous 2 platinum club.
That's right suckers! Bow down before my awesome'ness
... that's what we do, right? When we get platinum trophies? Gloat about it and try to earn everyone's respect; yet, instead, you're looked at as a moronic fool who has too much free time on your hands.
hmmm oh well.

You had made a comment like this earlier in the week before I finished the game. And the exact thing I had imagined happening did happen.

why would you close it of so tight if you wanted to continue it?
your not going to welding the lid shut to a milk bottle if you want to open it tomorrow now are you?
they could star a different character in a different environment with different powers, but that wont work.
its like GOW without kratos, might as well do it as a new IP.
there doing a new IP now anyway, so by the time thats finished and out the ps4 will be out so if they do infamous 3 it would be a ps4 launch title.
if they do infamous again, please for the love of god bring back the old power set!
no more of this 10 different types of a single power, and actually make the upgrades useful.
thats what i hated about infamous 2, the upgrades if anything feel like downgrades!
like the megawatt hammer, in the original you had a damage upgrade, a tracking upgrade and a cluster upgrade.
all very useful, and all able to combine in 1 rocket.
in 2 though you have a tracking upgrade but it has a lower damage and area of effect, a chain so enemies cant dive out of the way, and a cluster but homing on one enemy again less damage and less area.
in the original all were massively helpful, in 2 quite the opposite.
they give with one hand, and take away with the other.
wheres the fun in that?
but they really spoiled it with the powers themselves, before you could have a cluster rocket, homing rocket, and higher damage all in one rocket!
now you have to choose.
do you want the rocket that does more damage?
or the one that clusters?
or the one that has a line attached?
the original gave you your cake, and let you eat it too.
2 though gives you your cake, but no eating shes only for looking!
wheres the fun in that?
:(

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The good guy ending was very definitive yes, but IMO they need to arc toward the evil ending where regular human's die and conduits are created. I think this would be awesome if this could be pulled off in an open world environment. After that, you could still use the duality system but offer the player a chance at redemtion verses just having them on the fence when you start a new game. After that you should be able to recruit fellow conduits allowing for some sweet XMen style gameplay... possibly Co op with kuo which woulkd be neat. Plus there is that merc group vermak 88 that could add some interesting story telling to the plot....

Seriously though, I think its too hard to continue the story and even improve upon the already fantastic gameplay. I say, leave it at two and move on unless SP can top inFamous 2.

I have to admit - and please don't thumb me down for this - but I really like the way the Gears engine handles the 3rd person perspective. I like the way Epic games have done their camera, and the focal length used. There is just something very smooth about Gears. I hope Sucker Punch err closer to the way they have done Gears... from an engine perspective, but retain the Infamous feel they are so famous for :)
I will pick up Infamous 2 up some time in the future. At the moment my pennies are going for Killzone 3 (yes, still to get it), Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3 - If I feel like spending more I may pick Dirt3 or Formula 1 2011... just depends...
Bring on Infamous 3 though, with further improvements it can only get better...

Is anyone else having problems getting the hang of the aiming on I2? I stink at it for some reason and I really didn't do badly on I1. Kinda stinks that the baddies have longer range weapons than Cole does...been killed several times without knowing where I was getting hit from! :P

Well if I remember correctly, the Evil ending shows that Cole MacGrath lives, and the Good ending shows a lighting bolt hit Cole's coffin (possible revival?). They could continue the Evil side by having Cole team up with other conduits in between missions like Kuo and the final boss could be like a big reveal from Cole's past. Since each game takes place in different cities, maybe the third could take place in like LA or Los Vegas. Just some suggestions.
