New Developer Gives Sackboy Life On PlayStation Vita
It was one of the more impressive titles we saw running on the PlayStation Vita at E3 this year.
But did you know it wasn't being developed by original LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule? No, the LBP for the Vita is being handled by a very new development studio, Double11. Don't get too suspicious or skeptical, though; this new studio based in England "boasts incredible talent and experience for a relatively new start-up," with a staff that is already over 30 in number. The team was formed in 2010 by ex-Rockstar engineers Lee Hutchinson and Matt Shepcar and they've been working on this fresh project for a while. Said Hutchinson:
"It's a fantastic achievement and a privilege for the studio to be working on a project such as LittleBigPlanet, particularly for such an exciting new platform. We've spent the best part of a year recruiting a crack squad of games development professionals and we're delighted that we can finally announce it. It was really great to see such an enthusiastic response at the recent E3 and we are confident we'll be able to do more so in the future."
Double11 is also working with Sweden's Tarsier Studios, which "contributed significant content" to both LBP and LBP2 on the PlayStation 3. When you start a new studio with experienced experts at the helm and give them a chance to make a big splash with something like LBP...well, they can really impress you. We can't wait to try Sackboy on the Vita!

Especially since they already have the "street cred" & they're already well experienced with their own prior game(s) in the same series(other than not having the time due to working on another game).

I seriously thought Sackboy was going to become the new Pikachu and that he would be plastered all over and everyone, even non-gamers would know him.
Anyway, while I enjoyed LBP, it just wasn't for me. BUT I simply love it on the PSP. I think it fits perfectly on there. And this looks like it's going to be 10X better on the Vita.

i recently got the 1st game as my free psn game. i think it's a good game that deserved more sales. 1.65 million is not so bad for a new ip, but i know sony expected a lot more sales than that.
