PS Plus Celebrates Anniversary With "Birthday Bonus Months"
Believe it or not, PlayStation Plus has already been around for one year, and it's time to celebrate the anniversary.
Along with the multiple reasons to be a member - free content, discounts, early beta access, additional exclusive features, etc. - Sony has given you another incentive: as revealed at the PlayStation Blog, the "Birthday Bonus Months" offer is here. When you buy a 1-year membership, you'll get 3 extra months free, and if you sign up for the 3-month membership, you'll get 1 additional month. They also wanted to highlight the main reasons to have a subscription:
- More than 50 Free Games
- Over 100 Free DLC Items (Add-ons, Avatars, Themes)
- 170+ Discounts
- Over 100 Exclusives and Early Access items
- $800+ in Savings
For a nominal fee, you can really enhance your Network experience. Of course, the recent PSN unpleasantness may have soured some on the service, but Sony has reported that over 90% of overall usage has returned, so that's good news.

Free as in after you've paid for the membership.
No, once my actually FREE PSN membership expires, I'll be leaving this service alone.
Yep, Captain Grump Face strikes again.
It's okay, my psycho stimulate withdrawals (abstaining from heavy caffeine consumption) should be over by tomorrow.. I hope. Oh man, I do hope.

Oh well I might get ps plus depending on what other features besides free games and discounts. That's great and all but the only coolest thing is cloud storage. If they incorperate more features I am surely to get it.

The big games may not repeat, but I'm sure the lesser ones will continue to reappear periodically.

This is from the PS Plus FAQ;
"The content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at *no charge* is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber. The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber. Anything you have *purchased* (even if you purchased it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends."
In other words, if it's a game you got for free, it will expire with your subscription, but re-enable if you re-up. If you paid for it, even at a high discount, it's yours to keep no matter what. The exception is the stuff like avatars and themes. I think that add-on content for games you have purchased remains with you as well (though I can't be 100% sure on that one).

Edit (I rewrote to clarify my original):
It boils down to this.
Anything you pay for under PS Plus, even if you only pay a penny is yours to keep forever.
Anything you got free as part of PS Plus is tied to your PS Plus subscription and is activated only while your PS Plus subscription is active.
So, if your subscription ends, that free content is deactivated until you re-subscribe. The only exceptions are the free avatars and themes, those you can keep regardless, but any PSN game, mini, PSOne classic or DLC you get for free is only available while you are an active subscriber.

after the BS they have put me through with getting my account back, 7 months and counting!
paying for 1 years subscription and only getting 5 months.
i wont be touching plus ever again with a 50 foot barge pole!
as a friend asked me on saturday what do you get with plus?
i said oh just a few discounts and sometimes a beta access.
he said so your paying to save money, kinda pointless no?
i said yea well, pay 100 bucks a year to get discounts is pretty counterproductive.
especially if your like me and buy maybe 1 PSN game a year!
sony needs to find other ways to entice people into plus.
maybe early access to DLC for games, or special passes to launch events, something like that.
something everyone would want, and everyone would use.
no point paying for discounts, especially if your not going to use them in the first place!
like paying for a book of coupons then letting it sit in the draw.
they need to fix the automatic download feature too.
fantastic idea, but as ive said a million times not everyone lives in japan with unlimited download usages!
automatically downloads everything, even the crap i dont need!
they need to bring up a filter, make it that the ps3 tells you ok tomorrow this is the crap available with the automatic download features, please tick what you want downloaded.
no point bringing me 10 tons of bricks if i only need 2!

You are paying £40 a year in rental for accessing the games that's labelled "free". It may be worth it to you, by all means, but it just ain't free.

Sony talked big about cloud based saves with Vita, right now you need to be a Plus member for cloud saves to work on the PS3, and I bet that doesn't change any time soon.
