Black Ops Annihilation DLC For PSN: "T-Minus 13 Days"
Sadly, PlayStation Network users typically have to wait for any Call of Duty DLC.
But at least we know when the Annihilation pack will be heading our way. Activision has revealed today that this popular piece of extra content is "T-minus 13 days away from launching" on the PSN and PC.
So that puts it at July 28, if we're doing our math correctly. As you all know, Black Ops broke just about every sales record there was to be broken, and to supplement that best-selling effort, the Annihilation pack features "four of the best multiplayer maps to date." Said Treyarch studio boss Mark Lamia:
"With Annihilation, the team at Treyarch and Activision has shown its continued commitment to bringing new and unique content to our fans. Players are getting four of the best multiplayer maps to date with Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard. They also get a brand new dose of thrills in Shangri-La, our latestZombies offering, packed with deadly traps and dark secrets buried within the shifting walls of an ancient and mysterious temple."
The summer lull is here so you might as well enhance your online experience, right? You can probably guess at the price; most all CoD packs are $14.99, so that won't come as any huge surprise.

These developers need to realize te pay off may be big to release timed exclusives but there is possibly a loss of consumers at the same time. I'm sure the pay off covers that though which is sad.

i could not agree more. that's exactly how i feel about waiting around for dlc. i have had some of my friends tell me one of the reasons they got a 360 is becuase ms shows they care about them by locking down early dlc. they don't want to wait around for it. section 8 prejudice is game that my xbox owning friends love. ofcourse it showed up on 360 1st. months later on the ps3.
@maxpontiac
i wish na would get a clue, but i don't see it happening. everytime i check the na numbers the gap just keeps widening.
@ceser
good point about a console not being able to live on exclusives alone. it's interesting you brought up the quality of multiplats becuase i know that's a factor in the 360 getting more sales. cod is a great example. it just looks and plays better on the 360. as do many other multiplats. gamers know this. ps3 multiplats have improved a lot but there still are small but noticable diferences.

I'm not saying they shouldn't offer more value, but if the DLC offers the equivalent of a portion of the game for a price relative to that portion of the game's price, how can you complain?
Warhawk came with 5 multi-configuration maps for $40 (sans headset). Each piece of DLC added 1 multi-configuration map (plus a new vehicle and other bits) for $8. Totally fair value. Plus, as the price of the game dropped, so did the price of the DLC.
edit: I obviously didn't read the comment directly above mine before posting. Eight maps on disc? Yikes! If you can't justify buying the DLC, how can you justify buying the game? I guess you must really value the single-player campaign.

I feel sorry for all the parents who are forced to fork out this much money just so they're little gamer can remain popular with his or her friends at school. Only reason it sells is cos everyone who buys it wants to "feel" included.
I have never bought a CoD map pack and never will. I actually feel sorry for all those people so close minded that the only game they play is CoD and they think they're a hardcore gamer. Play 15 more and different titles, THEN you'll be worthy of the hardcore gamer title.
8 maps, 12 new guns, 4 new character types and 2 new co-op missions sounds like it's worth $15. 4 maps? People are clearly dumb to pay that much for an aesthetic change in their virtual play space. It sounds shallow, but it's true.
So long as it sells, Activision will continue milking it dry. How much longer will this madness go on for?!?! I just want CoD to die already, or reinvent itself like CoD 4 did over its prequels.
