Ignore The "Women Like Games More Than Sex" Headlines
See, this is what happens when you desperately want a hot headline during the summer lull.
It started at MCV and then continued on to many major game sources, including GamePro. They're citing a new study sponsored by Doritos where 2,052 people were asked if they enjoy various leisurely activities, including exercising, taking a bath, shopping, playing games, and having sex. After determining that about the same number of women and men play games online (49% compared to 50%), the survey found that 84% of women said they enjoy their gaming sessions. That tops the other stuff, including the 70% who say they enjoy sex. And so, here come the headlines.
Now of course, we're making the comparison as the study does no such thing. It didn't ask if they liked gaming more than sex; it didn't ask if they liked any one hobby more than the other. We might be able to infer that based on the numbers but forgive me; the psychology of this issue irritates me. Sex and gaming are a tad different. I'd wager that 95% of anyone who sits down to play a game is going to enjoy it; they've paid the entrance fee, likely know exactly what to expect, and are fully capable of enjoying the experience. It's simple and easy.
Sex is a touch more complicated. Some women seek therapy for not being able to enjoy sex. Many complain of incompetent lovers (sorry guys, but it's true). A whole lot more simply aren't physically or emotionally capable. There's a gigantic and very unfortunate myriad of reasons why a woman wouldn't enjoy sex. ...how could she not enjoy the gaming session? What, a little frustrated? Power went out?
Look, I understand the need for spicy headlines. But this one got to me.

"It was worth the funny comments though. Popcorn & Watermelon? Really?"
I just thought it was a nasty ass combination. And didn't know if the stereotype had changed from chicken and watermelon to popcorn and watermelon, I don't keep up with popular culture, and was wondering if Lil' Wayne had a song called that or some s*it.
@nas - And I didn't realize that was him in his picture. I thought it was his favorite football player or something, and that's another thing I don't keep up with. And yes, you look like a football player to me in the picture for some reason.
And on a side note, have you checked out Elzhi's "Elmatic" free album he put out. It's as close as anyone will ever get to touching Illmatic.

anyway, maybe its about being more accessible to women more than men. i mean, lets face it, women can have sex relatively easier than guys do. women can practically get laid whenever they want while guys need to jump through hoops to get a maybe. one of guys "moves" to get laid is get the girl drunk, and even that isnt a sure thing, hahaha. and we guys can play games as long as we want to and anytime we want. sure women can do that too but when guys get into our games, we tend to lose track of time. i dont know about other people but as for me, i would gladly do something else other than gaming if given the choice, depends on the choices of course.

Wild journalistic conclusions based on re-re-re-reported stories - check.
Irony of a 'spicy' story about a study that concludes women like video games more than sex being sponsored by DORITOS?
Check!
Checking out...though I do have to say, once again, cool picture....

HMMMM, the same could be said for sex too..... Although 95% of the time I'm not doing it while just sitting down. Plus I've never once had to pay an entrance fee.
