Prototype 2 Earns April 24, 2012 Date
If you enjoyed Alex Mercer's first adventure, you'll want to sign on for the second.
And now, Activision has confirmed that Prototype 2 will launch on April 24, 2012. The highly anticipated sequel has debuted at the San Diego Comic-Con event, and one of the trailers is right here. There's a whole lot to be excited about, even if the video doesn't show any gameplay.
Said Radical Entertainment studio boss Ken Rosman:
"We know our fans have been clamoring to find out when they would be able to get their hands-on PROTOTYPE 2, and the whole studio is excited that we can finally reveal the timing. We're also thrilled to be at the point where we can show the game directly to our fans. It's always rewarding to see those first time reactions to what we've been working on for the past couple years, and we can't wait for them to see some of Sgt. James Heller's amazing new shape-shifting abilities at San Diego Comic-Con."
The game enjoyed a 15-minute live stage presentation and attendees entered a raffle to win a limited edition version of the game, leather jacket modeled after the one Sgt. James Heller wears, and a one-of-a-kind custom skinned Xbox 360. So who's up for the adventure in April?

Since it is releasing so far from infamous this time, hopefully it'll have a better shot at sales for PS3 gamers. Like Claire C, I too love my open world over-the-top action games. San Andreas, saints row 2 and infamous are three of my favorites!!!

This is going to have to get a lot better than the first to garner my interest. The first one was so one-dimensional I was bored within a half hour. I hope they take some cues from inFamous 2 and come up with decent narrative, a coherent approach to powers, and more than the same 2 missions over and over.

Also I think making the main character from the 1st the main enemy in the 2nd game makes for a way more interesting story... @ least more interesting then the 1st Prototype, and hopefully Heller has more personality then Mercer did/does.

If you look closely at one of the pictures of Mercer (such as the one on the Prototype wiki) you'll probably notice that his jacket is actually slightly too small.

In fact Anthony Burch summed up the situation quite nicely in is "Rev Rant" video about Anti-Heroes (which can be found of youtube). Now I don't always agree with Burch but on this particular point I find that he and I are very much on the same page.
I was glad when I first heard that the main character from the first game was going to be the main villain in the second one. Assuming that Radical Entertainment has actually learned their lesson from the first game I might just buy the second one at some point.

Was it the one where he said we're supposed to feel for this guy and his story, even though he's ripping people apart to take their shape, surfing on dead bodies, launching senior citizens through the air and destroying blocks and blocks of city for his own good?
The game play is so broken, too many enemies around all the damn time to let you have any fun, and I can honestly say that is the first game EVER, that I played for about 5 hours and have absolutely no clue what the story was about, and didn't care. I don't think I have ever played a game I didn't at least know something about the story.
I tried to pass it because I don't like to give up on games I start, and it was fun for about the first hour, and was hoping for it to get better, but it just kept being the same.
All I remember was a scientist guy I helped to get to his lab, some chick and a bunch of monsters. Oh and this was on screen 80% of the time: Murderous helicopter, 10 soldiers shooting at you with assorted weapons, huge leaping monsters, zombies, drones and 10-15 civilians.
OH YEAH and let's not forget they ran out of buttons for his powers. There were actually some powers that you had to press triangle and x at the same time to pull off...
