Infinity Ward Boss: Room For Both MW3 And Battlefield 3

The ultimate FPS battle will take place this fall but in truth, it has already begun in the headlines.

Which will be better? Which one should I buy? The question, "which will sell more?" is already a foregone conclusion but the other questions are perfectly legitimate. And you might expect that Infinity Ward boss Robert Bowling would promote one over the other but in fact, he told Eurogamer that there's "definitely room" for both Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3. Furthermore, he says both games will offer "very different experiences:"

"I'm very aware that we have two very different audiences and we're delivering two very good and very different experiences, so I think the baiting is built up more of these two really passionate communities - and they should be really passionate about their individual games - getting at each other, and that's been happening forever."

But more importantly they're going to be very different experiences. The kind of gameplay you get from Call of Duty is very different from what you get anywhere else and I think that's important. I think any shooter fan would be extremely disappointed if you only got one."

Battlefield 3 gets the jump on MW3 by releasing on October 25 (MW3 launches on November 8) but shooter fans will want to play both. Won't they? Will you purchase both?

It really doesn't matter witch if the two is the best when it is all up to you to decide.

Personally I will most likely buy them both day 1. With so many games out in the last 4 months of 2011 I probably won't even know what to play & im not just talking about BF3 & Mw3. I usually do the SP 1st then hop online till I bore myself out of the game witch usually lasts months. But I never in my life had the problem to not know what to play.

September: Resistance 3 & FIFA 12
October: BATTLEFIELD 3
November: Uncharted 3 & Mw2
Along the way i'll also be getting splinter cell remake, IC. O & Shadow of the Collosus & the MGS remake
.

When you consider the fact that both games are two completely different things with different aims its pretty stupid for anybody to even compare them.

Anyhow if you're want a semi-MMO-lite experience that focus on team gameplay then BF3 is your game. If you want a pure FPS experience then MW3 is your game. Overall though both games are nothing alike and should never be compared.

It's nice to see that there's no ill will from infinity ward. I guess they know they'll sell more since they have the COD title, the split screen multiplayer and the popular arcadey type of gameplay that people can just pick up and play.

As for buying MW3 or Battlefield 3, I'm gonna wait them both out for a slight price drop. I will definitely be getting Battlefield 3 on PC, no brainer. Might get MW3 on 360 since I already have MW2 on PS3. Split screen multiplayer CODs for all consoles!!!

I can easily wait these shooters out since I've already preordered resistance 3, Gears 3, ICO / Shadow of the Colossus HD, Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3, MGS Collection, dance central 2 and Zelda Skyward Sword. I'm a big fan of variety. :)

Variety is a good thing, that's why I dig on Sony most. That's a lot of pre-orders man!

Noooo. I'm getting BF3, it's looking and sounding so awesome. Better then any other shooter out there. And that is saying a lot putting it over Resistance and Kill zone.. yeah :/ I said it...

BF3 looks so beautiful and every video that is released of the gameplay just streangthens my faith in BF stomping the guts out of COD.
I know that this won't happen this fall, In quility YEAH a lot, but now in sales, it won't slow down sales at all. But I hope that the epic-ness quality of BF will wake up some of the COD fan base and prevent a good portion of them in buying in to that crap.

I do agree that they diliver such differences. I mean look how little COD dilivers compared to BF. BF is on such a higher level.

I just wish infinity ward would of never took this route, now I got so much hate built up tawards them. And it doesn't help when they come out and say they diliver a "different experince" every year in a recent aritcle I read at Playstation univers.

One thing is for sure, with all the headlines, articles, videos and information and talk in the every day world just builds up my will for getting BF3 on day one and trying my best to talk everyone out of getting MW3 that I can.
I can say today with total 100% confifence that I will never buy another COD game.

Thank you for reading, Happy gaming everyone. (: Kind of wired saying that after all i said about COD... but still, Anyways I don't consider someone who just plays COD all day every day is a gamer any ways. so yeah Happy gaming everyone.

Come January I will probably be getting BF3, but I'll be buying it as a birthday present to my friend for whom I am on a self appointed mission to show that there are better games than CoD.

I've tried to do this with my friend who has CoD blinders, it's been over six months since I gave him to try Uncharted 2 and in all that time, he still hasn't put that disc in his machine, nor has be played any other game in that time. He even passed over SOCOM and that series used to be his obsession.

I'm only getting Battlefield 3 this time around. As much as I force myself though, I don't think I'm an online gamer. Demon's Souls is the only game I enjoyed playing online, and that was only occasionally (and blowing stuff up with friends in Mercenaries 2 proved fun for about an hour or so).

He shouldnt hav said that. Everyones putting those to against each other and it seems like hes admitting theyre gonna give COD a good fight.
Now B3 has a better chance.

"You played em huh?"

Here is a question, but have you ever played BF game before? If not then I know exactly what I'm saying.

Again comparing a MMO-type game to a FPS make no sense especially when the audience and gameplay is completely different.

Not sure where your logic originated from, but having one of the games as an MMO type game and not the other "makes no sense".

The only FPS I have seen or played that even could be classified as an MMO is MAG.

seriously, stop calling BF3 a mmo type of game, its nowhere near it. Both are fps games, period. no sub genre to see here

I'll be purchasing BF3 day-one for both the SP and (especially) MP aspect of the game, and I'll either rent or borrow MW3 to see how the SP story continues on from MW2.

Picking up BF3, the online experience is great for that franchise. Renting MW3 to see where they take the story and to see how it compares to the last 2 games from the old Infinity Ward.

Like no duh its an FPS, but there is reason why I classify the BF games as mmo-type games..it must have something to do with the fact the games focus in group/role play in the manner of an mmo as oppose to a run-of the mill FPS. Ever stop think about that? Also note how I mention the game being mmo-lite, so you can't accuse me of label the games a full-on MMO.

Overall don't I care what anybody else call(or don't call) BF3, the points is its nothing like the COD games...

The only FPS I have seen or played that even could be classified as an MMO is MAG.

Where were you the last 8/9 years, because if I remember right Planetside came long before MAG.

First, its easier to just reply to ur own comment so its easier to find ur responses. Just hit the reply button underneath the ur name

Second, just about every fps game out now lets you play on teams with each other and fulfill roles, but that doesn't classify them as being mmo,mmo lite, or whatever u wanna call it. In that case, CoD is mmo lite, same as Team Fortress 2. Hell, BFBC2 only allows for a max of 24 players in one game, a tad bit shy from anything mmo

In fact, some would say TF2 does extremely well with class based gameplay. You'd never hear it called any kind of mmo because quite simply, it doesnt fit

There's room for PC, 360, PS3 and Wii too, that doesn't mean people aren't working as hard as possible to crush the 'perceived' opposition.
