Media Molecule: "We Like To Try To Impress Ourselves"
If we told you Media Molecule's new project would be "experimental," would you be surprised?
Not if you were familiar with their work. LittleBigPlanet is one of the generation's most innovative and impressive franchises, so it's no big shock to hear MM art director Kareem Ettouney say their next game will be "risky and experimental." The project is still in the very early stages, but in speaking to VideoGamer, the designers clearly aren't afraid to take chances and push the envelope:
"We like risks, we like experimentation, we like to try to impress ourselves, and each other. Without going into [specifics], because we're still very much at a nucleus stage, what we do at this stage is we just put our development hats on, and produce and draw and make prototypes, think and look at the world around us and respond to that.
Our house style is definitely in the risk-creative sort of place. We like to push that boundary all the time."
Ettouney says they're really close to a time "where the expressive personal element of the creator is coming out, even more than in LittleBigPlanet." And the team intends to follow that route "and see what happens." Obviously, it'll be a while before we hear about their new project, but you can bet we're anxious to see it. It's teams like this put Sony's first-party titles a step ahead of the competition.

Media Molecule are like my faveourite dev now, they're a awesome bunch of people,they really are. Better yet their from my home country, which makes me feel somewhat proud :P
So does anyway actually play LBP2 on this site? It's a shame if none of you don't..I know jawknee doesn't as I've been bugging him to come on for the past several weeks or so. Once you become accustomed to the tools, you REALLY start to get into them, I mean they're so much their that you wouldn't find out otherwise..
For example, people have actually found a way to use battries [thats the 'in-game' battries] and direction combiners to actually use binary with anolouge/digital signals (from the battries). It's crazy stuff...it's not far off from being a dev kit!

I haven't the patience to create in LBP but love the games and the creations others make and have tons of time for MM and wonder if it's any surprise that Lionhead have been pants since they left.
