True Gamers Will Buy The MGS HD Collection On November 8

Come on. This news was primed for such a headline.

So as it turns out, the date has been changed for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. As you may have seen at other sources, both Amazon and GameStop have a new date for the highly anticipated package: November 8.

Now, as the entire planet knows, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 comes out on that same day. The guaranteed biggest game of the year. It'll probably sell over 20 million copies, and maybe even more than 25 million. The biggest game ever, in all likelihood. The summer blockbuster of movies coming in the fall. But real gamers, those who have a history of enjoying the hobby, those who enjoy something with a tad more substance than a big ol' mindless shooter, will absolutely spring for the Collection on that day.

And this goes well beyond the hardcore MGS followers (and there are lots of those people); I honestly believe some of these gamers hate CoD so much, they'll buy the MGS Collection almost entirely out of spite. I can just picture one of the MW3 haters going, "yeah, I'm going to spend money on not one, but three games that actually feature depth, substance, story, etc, etc, etc." Hey, I'm not the one saying it. Just ask around. See if I'm wrong.

Day one buy for me. This series is the holy grail of gaming as far as i'm concerned. Hideo Kojima is quite frankly "The man" & i will be lapping this up as soon as I eye it on shelves.

Darn tootin' they will. This is just THE killer reason not to buy Modern Warfare 3. Uncharted, Skyrim... they both bow before the might of Snake.

Better yet, they'll be releasing cheaper than CoD as well. I mean... come on. You really can't beat THAT.

I have been gaming since the 8bit days, and I believe I am a true gamer even though I don't wan to spend all my money on gaming - one still needs a pension one day right?

Unfortunately, with the upcoming titles I really want, the MGS HD collection cannot be bought on my current budget. I am sure there will be a time when I can get it cheaply enough, probably July or December 2012 when there are typically huge sales on PSN...

But right now, my money is going elsewhere...

I'm still not going to buy it though. I'm Not a fan.

As far as the MGS Collection, this is good for me. I was too young at the time to appreciate how great MGS was. So, even though I'm not buying this on day one, I will be getting it this year.

MGS Collection is definitely on the hit list. I hope to be playing it soon after it releases. About MW3, I didn't even know it's releasing on the 8th until I read this. Now I know which day to make absolutely sure I not anywhere near a Gamestop. :P

I already own and beat MGS2 and 3 multiple times but I havn't beat Peace Walker yet. I'm not sure if I'll get this but there's definetly a chance. Is there any confirmation on the price? because I read somewhere it was $50, if it is than I'm not buying it, I could just get PW for my PSP for less.

The only time I played Metal Gear was at a friend's house. I thought it was cool, but I never bought it. Now this I wil get day one because it has four games, and I wanna know what the praise is about. Last time I did that was when I played FFVII and it was really worth it.

I also tried the MGS4 demo, but I just kept getting spotted I gave up.

It comes woth MGS2:Sons of liberty, MGS3: Snake eater and MGS: solid peace walker(from the PSP).
But I hear that they are working on the MGS(1) remake seperatly, it was to old to get it as ecual to this ones so they plan on releasing it seperatly. Already a day one purchase for me.

And I havn't heard if they are having the first MGS as a code you can download from the PSN tht comes with dah collection, that would make sence, and be totally awesome. I would love that!

And just as i thought 50 bucks was worth it.. this collection in my eyes is worth at least 70, 80 looking at the games out there priced at $60.

Well I got two games i know i'm buying, Uncharted 3 and the MGS HD collection. :D

*Also got Madden 12 here in August(it is sounding like they have relised what the fans want and it sounds like there are many, many changes and updates for it. finger crossed)

*And there is Battefeild 3 in October

And games other then that... well they are going to have to make the list to Santa.(:

I'll be proud standing in line surrounded in kids holding there "Mw3" at the cash teel. i'll even have a smile on my face and maybe even poke at a 12 year old, "psst, hey, try this, a real game that is a billion times better then that crappy arcade shooter your holding, And if you wanted a real shooter, you should of picked up battlefield 3 last week."

Have to say - i find the MGS series slow paced and a bit boring - not really into stealth stuff - so no - won't bother.

Limbo just released. Catherine's available in 3 days. El Shaddai and No More Heroes in a couple weeks. Child of Eden, Disgaea 4 and Resistance 3 a couple weeks after that. And plenty of great titles out for a while that you probably haven't played yet ;)

why would you buy a collection over one of the years biggest games?
especially a collection that most have already finished probably 40 times by now!
only game ill be playing in november is assassins creed revelaions.
i just hope it has a propper story this time an not oh nooooooo the thing you spent all of AC2 to retrieve has now been stolen.

i hope theres allot less forced stealth too, AC has always had such a awesome combat system but you cant use it if your forced upon stealth which is just really stupid!

I was completely unaware that is when MW3 releases. I pay zero attention to the vast majority of Activision's franchises. Also MGS isn't what real gamers are going to pick up... they'll be waiting a few days for Skyrim and UC3.....

I've already got all the mgs games out and i don't have an hdtv+hdmi so the only reason i would get this is if peace walker hd has splitscreen. Splitscreen online would be a bonus too.

Ha buy modern warfare 3 and be considered a real gamer, not mgs collection.

This is site bashes way too much call of duty, and i bet none of the people bashing it has at least tried black ops yet.

Main reason could be they suck at it or they don't like the game, or think it doesn't compare to other games.

Most likely they suck at it.

So from Oct. 4 to Nov 15 2011 we will have the following releases: Dark Souls, Ratchet and Clank:All 4 One, Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3 (which some people care, but I'm really going to pass this one), Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Saints Row 3 and Assassin's Creed: Revelations! I consider myself a "True Gamer", but I cannot include that MGS HD collection in my budget with that other 9 reasons. I will probably get 2 of these, 3 at most. I'm so sad.

They really need to release remake of the 2 Original MG games on the MSX computer. Then we would have the complete Snake story as it would complete the story between MGS3 and MGS (Or MGS twin snake :P)

Oh man. I don't know if this is good or bad (for me). On one hand, sweet! The collection is coming out sooner. I already have it paid for in full at Gamestop (I'm not even interested in Call of Duty).

But now that means I have a game to play EVERY week of November (Uncharted 3 on November 1st, Metal Gear Solid HD on November 8th, Assassin's Creed Revelations November 15th, ... hmmm, maybe only the first three weeks unless Oddworld HD comes out November 22nd).

People should definitely purchase this over Call of Duty though. I've played Modern Warfare 2 and it's a decent game, no glitches and very fluid but overall just felt meh (great music though). Metal Gear Solid HD, living through these games either for the first time or again will be much more memorable than generic corridor shooter #3058684.

well mgs collection would have been a day 1 for me if it included the first. i don't get this we couldn't use the first cause it's too old has everybody forgotten about the twin snakes metal solid 1 redone on gamecube it was freakin awesome and it's same graphics as mgs2 so why not use that one

I am so pissed right now. I woke up this morning to buy MGS from the PS Store and YLOD! And my MGS4 is in the PS3 and I had it for a nice four years, almost exactly. No warrenty... :( I really want to play BF3 and this when it comes out.
