L.A. Noire's MotionScan: Next Stop, Grand Theft Auto V?
We believe L.A. Noire's MotionScan technology was a revolutionary tech that will allow storytelling in video games to take the next step. Stories are told through faces, after all.
It's the reason why we want to see MotionScan in other big-name titles; it'll help to enhance the realism and overall experience. Wouldn't it be great in Grand Theft Auto V? That's a possibility, you know...
In speaking to PSM3 magazine, Team Bondi co-founder Brendan McNamara said Rockstar is currently looking at MotionScan for "every game." And of course, GTAV falls into that category. Said McNamara:
"Yeah, I think they're looking at it for every game. As much as LA Noire is a huge game, Grand Theft Auto is incredibly huge, so you've got all the problems of how big the cast would be and how many lines would you have to record and all that kind of stuff.
Obviously we'd like them to, and they're more than welcome to use MotionScan, but if they decide it's not right for that and want to use it for another game, then that's fine too."
McNamara goes on to echo our own opinion on MotionScan, in that "it brings a level of humanity to the experience" that lets us truly relate to the characters. At this point, though, the relationship between Rockstar and Team Bondi may be a little rocky due to supposed questionable working conditions at the developer's studio.
Heck, if we had our way, MotionScan would be in just about any game that puts a premium on plot and character development.

I'm sure you've played GTA4 right? If you bump into them and over hear a conversation it would be amazing if the face was lifelike with the movement of the mouth and face structure.
But I suppose so, maybe if there is more talking than what's currently in it.

1 it will add allot of time to the development, and GTA always takes forever as it is!
2 it will send the cost of the game through the roof, and again GTA has always been a high cost game.
3 it would indicate that there more interested on turning it into GTAIV then san andreas or the other fun propper GTA games.
i want a fun game, not a game that looks realistic but is also so realistic its no fun!
last time i checked we played games to escape reality, to do things we would never do in real life!
not to be confined by them!
