OPM: Frostbite 2 Paves The Way For Mirror's Edge Return
Recently, EA said they had no wish to abandon Mirror's Edge, a sentiment that gave fans hope for a sequel.
Well, maybe EA was actually hinting at a current or near-future project. First, EA boss Frank Gibeau was asked if we'd ever see DICE's new Frostbite 2 engine in Mirror's Edge 2, and his response was- "You'll see that combination, I'm sure." And now, according to "insider whispers" in the latest OPM, we hear something similar:
"The Frostbite 2 engine will pave the way for Mirror's Edge to make a free-running return."
Maybe we'll get the official unveiling before the year is out, although we imagine EA will be focusing on Battlefield 3 for the holiday rush. Mirror's Edge was a great game with a boatload of potential, and it managed to sell over 1 million copies. But that doesn't necessarily qualify as a rip-roaring success for EA, so maybe that's why they were slow to crank out a sequel.
But whatever the reason, we just hope a sequel is in the works.

I got interested the moment I heard about it, found the demo interesting and bought the game.
I loved the graphics style, found the story promising... and *hated* the game.
I never even remotely mastered it, I struggled everywhere, and got furious over the damn time trials and the millimetre precision required in the game. The suckage of that year. Oh God how I hated that game.
But now, every time I hear about it again I think "oh now *that's* a cool game". And I will not be surprised if I even buy it. And hate it. Again.

Imo Borderlands is the prime example of being too easy, to the extent that the fights became boring. It was the "crazy funpark" atmosphere that rescued that game from boredom.
However, World hits the nail imo in that good modern games typically try to grasp what you *meant* to do. And done right that's an evolution from the oldschool games.
Not by being too much of a crouch, like imo inFamous is the prime example of with that "stickyness", it simply "try too hard".
But the more subtle small "pushes" in the right direction to compensate for the loss of precision using two small sticks, like in Uncharted, that's a very good example of well balanced "support mechanics".
You could easily screw up in Uncharted, but *if* you intended to do the right thing and timed it right, you *did* the right thing. That's how it should be.
I mean, in real life if you were jumping to reach a given ledge, you *would* grab that pipe. It's not like you'd ever miss it. In Mirrors Edge you had to jump over and over just to get your damn hand to grab that damn pipe. It's "oldschool" yes, but games have evolved since then.
Back in the days they *had* to make it that hard cause really, that was basically all they could do in order to make it exciting.

I'll give you one guess what my favorite game this generation is... Mastering Mirror's Edge was a massive thrill. And getting 3-stars on every time trial is one of my fondest gaming memories. Every time you think you've got it figured out, there's a new trick you hadn't thought to try, or a new nuance to the controls.
I'm still working on getting a no-death, no-kill, hard, all-in-one-run game finished for my final act of mastery. Hopefully by then ME2 will be here B)
Come on DICE and EA, get to it!!

you dont wanna know what id do to see ME2 running on the frostbite 2 engine.......
would be even better if EA could get stewart black back, pull criterion of that crappy burnout crash game, and throw them both onto the FB2 to make a sequel to the industries best shooter!

When your trying to be a split second faster and she stops dead because she caught something sticking out slightly.
I liked the game the first run through though...
