Kojima Hints: MGS HD Collection Runs At 60FPS

Yes, all of it. All three titles in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will run at 60 frames per second. ...or so it seems.

During a series of Tweets today (as summarized at Andriasang), Hideo Kojima has essentially confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - formerly only for the PSP - will get a FPS bump: "60 frames per second in HD...it's the best! Say peace!" Kojima already confirmed that MGS3 would run at 60FPS; the team originally tried to hit 60 with the PS2 version but due to the "collision detection and jungle visuals," they were forced to keep it to 30. As for MGS2, that ran at 60 frames per second when it first released way back in 2001 (oh yeah, we remember), so it'll only need the high-def coat of polish. So yeah, it appears as if the entire HD Collection will indeed be updated in more ways than one.

If you must have this in your library, remember that the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection launches on November 8.

This HD collection is sounding better by the day. Can anyone confirm if MGS4 style controls will be implemented in the games? If so, it is a 100% 1st day buy for me!

I'm also wondering about that. But I'm not sure that's how HD remakes work. A MGS4 control scheme sure would be nice.

I doubt it, It says its MGS3: Snake Eater, MGO was with MGS3: Subsistance. Shame I would love that too :(

Hi:

I think Kojima said that MGS3 will be 30FPS. I really don't know why those games can't be Full HD?

I have a feeling that this game will be lost in the "Great Avalanche of November".

Uncharted, Skyrim and MW3 pretty much ensures that not much else is going to sell.

I can't wait for this collection. I'm curious if MGS2 will be SOL or Substance, they haven't mentioned anything about the vr missions or the snake tales.

There's a good chance that the next solid snake MGS game will be a playstation exclusive. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is why Mr kojima would make a multiplatform engine this late into the console generation, i'm sure the next generation of consoles is not too far off. my guess is that the engine will be used by the other developers that konami owns and not so much by kojima himself. As far as the next solid snake MGS goes i'd say it's time to remake Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, maybe a PS4 exclusive? (reference to ben's article early this week)

Fox Hounder, my very first game on Ps1 was Metal Gear. I really dont have any feelings towards Raiden going over to Xbox just so Hideo can answer questions left unanswered. But when it comes to Solid Snake himself making an appearance on Xbox is like 12 years of living a lie. I dont remeber who it was but someone in here said something like "On MGS4 in shadow moses when the songs played it was like 10 years of MGS in one moment". I never knew I felt the same way because since Metal Gear, Ive played just about every title with Snake on it. I would prefer Hideo if he used the most out of the Blu Ray and the ps3s power.

Killa tequilla. I feel your pain, MGS1 was also my first PS1 game. as far as this collection being on the 360 goes, it's really about Rising coming next year. These hd collection's are all about getting the fans ready for the next installment in the series, and catching new fans up on what's going on before the next release, look at GOW hd, Sly hd, ect. It wouldn't make much sense to release the collection on only one console when Rising is coming out on both. I find hard to believe that kojima could go from 50+GB on the blu ray to 6.8 GB on the dvd9, will probably see another exclusive MGS from kojima, but we might have to wait till PS4 before we get it.

i have a very strong feeling the next mgs installment will be a multiplat title. everything is pointing that way. the new engine, and peacwalker appearing on the 360 speaks volumes as far as i'm concerned. konami and japan in general want a presence on the 360.

i just find it interesting that people can ignore the writing on the wall. how many metal gear titles does it take appearing on the 360 before people get it? that series has went multiplat.

Excelsior1. I'm not saying definitively that there will be another exclusive MGS game, my point is that it's not out of the realm of possibility. If it is such a fate de compli that MGS is now multiplat then why is MGS1 (or the twin snakes) not in the collection. The collection is incomplete without the first game wouldn't you say? And why not port MGS4 to the 360? if they cut the polygon count and remove the the ipod tracks i sure they could cram it on 3 or 4 disks, kojima was playing around with idea of putting MGS4 on the vita some time ago. If is's possible on the vita then it's definitely possible on the 360.

This above everything else coming out this year will be my number one purchase (it would be Mass Effect 3 but...). Metal Gear Solid 3 is hands down the best ps2 game ever released (a lofty claim, I know).

Why MGS2 remake in HD instead of Portable Ops in HD? As far as I know Portable Ops is in between MGS3 and Peace Walker when it comes to the story timeline. Oh well, MGS2 is better than nothing given the fact that it's my least favorite in the series.

If I can only get one game this year, heck all of next year this will be what I get.
This i nice news, I can't wait to play them all again.

Any news on the first MGS being a downloaded code off of PSN that comes with the collection?

Metal Gear Sold-Best franchise EVER!

Oh, And I don't see how MGS5 would go multuplat, there is know why Konami would get it to work on anything but the Playstation. The 360 only handles 8 gigs while the PS3 and the blue ray can easily take 50. If Microsoft gets MGS then the case will have to be like a book, having like 10 discs and MGS5 could have like 60 gigs.

I <3 MGS

StangMan80. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as of right now the MGS1 download code is for japan only. I read somewhere that the ps3 version will include a download code for MGSPW for psp, i'm not sure if it's in japan only though. Oh and thumbs up on what you said about MGS5

Thanks guys.
Well that sucks that only Japan gets that, and both of them? There are people over here that love MGS and Solid Snake just as much or more then any one over there. I don't see why we don't get both of them.

oh, And the number of discs is not the only thing that will be different from what we got today, the amount of content, story length and graphics, everything would have to be change and down graded. Everyone knows that all exclusives are better then any multiplat game. They may not be your favorite but they defiantly look better and can do more things then a multiplat. And now I think about it, I'm looking a Halo, And I don't see how that can't be a multiplat... You couldn't do that with Uncharted 2 and soon 3 and MGS4 over to the 360. You just couldn't.

StangMan80. The reason why the MGS1 free download code is only for japan is because unlike in the US, over there peace walker is being sold separately from the other 2 games, so they include MGS1 with 2 & 3 to compensate for the lack of PW. Plus kojima hinted at a remake of MGS1, so i guess that's another reason for not including it. It still stinks though, i have it on disk thanks to the essential collection released on the ps2, but i would've liked to have had a digital copy as well.

Personally, I've held some (seemingly vain) hope that 'Snake Eater' would get bumped to 60 frames pretty much since the first time I played it (really noticed it when I encountered The Fury).
The fact that this is three of my favorite games, all upscaled to high-definition, one a much-needed (in my opinion) handheld-to-home console port, plus my aforementioned long-held hope makes this one of the biggest titles of the year (possibly generation, if not of all time) to me.

I'm only interested in Peace Walker because I haven't played it and I have already played the other two games. Any body knows if they will be available separately for download and at what price?

I hope KONAMI isn't as cash hungry as CAPCOM, i.e. the upcoming resident evil remakes will be for download only and at $20.00 EACH. I will definitively pass on those.

I don't think they will be, not any time soon anyways. I just wish I can play Portable ops. It's part of the story too and I think we should of got that with the Collection as well.
I hope it comes to PSN for PS3 soon.

i just hope the graphics have been properly updated, not like the GOW collection!
they just looked like the games running on a BC ps3!
i mean whats the point spending 80 AUD on the game if its going to look exactly same as the 2 ps2 games which you could pick up for 50 AUD less!
