Square Enix Resurrects True Crime: Hong Kong
We dislike stories about games being canceled. But man, we love it when a game rises from the dead, mostly because it's so very rare.
For a while now, True Crime: Hong Kong has been on the shelf, which disappointed fans of the series. However, according to a Gamasutra report, the rights to this promising open-world action title have been picked up by Square Enix. Better still, the game is already back in development at United Front Games. However, it should be clarified that Square Enix only has access to this particular title; it didn't purchase the entire True Crime franchise. Hence, the publisher will re-brand the game before it launches.
When former publisher Activision Blizzard ditched the project, the publisher's CEO Eric Hirshberg said the game "just wasn't going to be good enough." We're hoping United Front Games can deliver a top-tier action title; the franchise's grit and atmosphere is typically a huge draw. Amp that stuff up, devs!
