Rumor: Source Confirms Borderlands 2 For Next Year
Update: Oh goody; the game has been officially announced. It'll get a full unveiling at GamesCom this month, and is expected to arrive on store shelves on April 1, 2012. It's probably just a placeholder date, but that's okay. :)
Original Story:
If you were a fan of the first cel-shaded open-world shooter, you should be all over a sequel.
It has long since been rumored that developer Gearbox Software has been working on a sequel to Borderlands and now it's all but confirmed. According to a source close to Eurogamer, publisher 2K Games will soon reveal Borderlands 2, which is evidently expected to release next year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. In the past, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford had told the press that his studio will indeed revisit the game in question:
"I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVES Borderlands and we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it's gotten from our customers and the fact that it's sold over four million units now.
So you can see that we supported the game like mad with lots of great DLC and you can imagine that we're going to want to do a lot of things with Borderlands in the future. But we've only announced what we've announced. If we haven't announced it, it doesn't exist."
Yeah, we remember him saying that. He went on to say that a promise to customers shouldn't be made until the commitment exists to follow through on that promise. And we have no doubt that Borderlands 2 will arrive at some point next year; we just need the official announcement and we'll be good to go.

better than fallout 3 goty dlc? you saying that it has the best dlc ever has made me very intereested in tnis game. unfortunately i never have played borderlands. i knew it was an unreal 3 powered game...the cel shading cartoon look kind of turned me off. i guess i kind of forgot about it.
however, all the praise i have seen for the game has made me reconsider. i respect my fellow gamers opinions and will definitely give borderlands a try.
i did not know borderlands sold 4 million copies. i would love to know how many ps3 versions were sold.

Let me put it this way: There is a reason why almost every fan of Borderlands mention the DLCs in one way or another. They are *real* extensions to the game, and they are super solid.
They all come with new maps, new mobs, new stories, a decent length and each with their own distinct identity. Especially "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" is like an entirely new game. That one is a "must see".
But they are all very much Borderlands all the way. And, well, Borderlands is not for everyone. It's not exactly deep, to put it that way. I dare not to unconditionally recommend it.
But *if* you like the main game you *will* love the DLCs, and you *will* say "Now THAT's how I want my DLCs!". Cause man, they really are good.

Still though, I didn't know there was a zombie DLC, anything Zombie has me interested. We have no good zombie games yet on PS3 even though there are plenty of games with Zombie additions. Dead Island soon baby.

My main problem with Borderlands is that it is too easy. It's annoyingly easy imo.

i HATED borderlands!
1 reason being 4 times i had to restart the game because at one point it decided to corrupt my game save.
when i contacted gearbox they blamed my ps3 for it, even though 1 it was brand new at the time, 2 did not do it with any other games, and 3 there were literally thousands of posts on their blog of people with the issue!
2nd reason being it was REALLY freaking annoying!
i remember one level i was trying to finish you have to wonder around to find these parts, but enemies keep non stop attacking you.
you sit back and kill them all, so you would think ok now i can hunt in peace.
but nope they keep spawning, so you have to search for these items while having 500 million things trying to kill you!
GGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
drove me freaking insane!

if i remember right you had to look in these bushes, but while your searching picking what you need enemies are hitting you taking health off and you cant move.
i remember finding crates and wanting to take a weapon but i couldnt because i had to keep leaving otherwise the enemies would kill me.
you have to sit here for 20 seconds to pick up the stuff you need, but you cant sit still for 1 second let alone 20 otherwise you will die.
force you to do one thing, but then make it nigh on impossible to do so!
remove that, polish the game so i can play through the whole thing without it corrupting my save, then i might give it a look.
dunno WTF is wrong with gearbox this gen!
they use to make some kick a$$ games, but everything from them this gen has sucked total donkey balls!
borderlands and DNF especially!
