Twisted Metal Delayed, Needs More "Polish And Love"
Twisted MetalWell, at least it's probably the most candid explanation for a delay in the history of gaming. That's kinda how David Jaffe works; he tells you like it is.
Who else would flat out tell you that if their game released on the announced launch day, it would be straight-up "bad?" According to the Eat Sleep Play co-founder's update at the PlayStation Blog, Twisted Metal will arrive at GamesCom and PAX Prime...but sadly, the game will miss its October 4 release date. It's now set for "early 2012."
Jaffe says they're "just not ready yet" and he adds that Sony has been "a super supportive champion and collaborator." He says that he understands how disappointing and frustrating delays are, but we all have to trust him that his project needs more time to cook. He then quotes Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto- "A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time."
Said Jaffe:
"Now, if we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow – going off the response from folks who have played it – I assure you, it would never be a bad game. Not even close. But we’re aiming for a heck of a lot more than that! With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multiplayer classic. We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made. We plan to convert a lot of folks who think vehicle combat is a relic best left to 90′s nostalgia. And we plan to explode the belief that the only relevant kind of shooter is a first person one (or a 3rd person one, where you play a human… with a tee shirt not all the way tucked in :)…)."
Best of luck man. We appreciate the honesty and while we are certainly disappointed we won't be playing Twisted Metal this fall, we can be patient. We've been patient this long...what's a few more months? Besides, while a delay is annoying, a bad TM entry from Jaffe and Co. would be downright devastating in our eyes.

Needless to say releasing it in 2012, it might see more consumers, since this holiday is just jam packed anyways. But it's a sad day to be sure!

I suppose any game with a preacher character seem apocalyptic but TM I would see a bit of a fit.
The whole 2012 thing is, IMO, basically another Y2K: different origins, but only dangerous depending on the degree people become panicked or taken advantage of.

id rather them polish it, cuz the state its in isnt really that impressive.
as long as they dont take forever to release it

Vehicle combat is a relic, so if he plans to resurrect it I say take your time. I follow Jaffe's tweets for tidbits and it seems his team is always pretty busy so I doubt this has anything to do with lazyness like other devs.
Delays can be frustrating when you really want a game, but they should be an option, I mean imagine what kind of game you'd get if it had a schedule to release on every single year...

managed to avoid the politics for almost 20 years. i just always focused on the work. not sure if it is becuase games are getting so expensive or becuase the economy is so bad that people are more scared-and thus more desperate than ever-to keep their **-- but MAN i've never actually noticed the politics and backstabbing and bullsh!t of certain types before the last 3 months i will say this: i don't f*cking like it and i choose not to play, live or die by the work only. the rest is just scared people in the wrong line of work.
that sounds like some internal developement problems to me. i wonder who the hell ticked him off.

Now I can dedicate time to Dark Souls and also make it a bit easier to pick up an extra game at the end of the year... I'm thinking BF3 just became a lock.
Well, I suppose this means less of a chance of TM disappointing, and that can only be a good thing. Go Jaffe.
