Battlefield 3, PlayStation Vita Honored At GamesCom 2011
A lot of promising titles turned heads at this year's GamesCom event, but only one can take home the "Best Game Of" award.
A panel of industry professionals and other media members have made their selections for GamesCom 2011, and DICE's Battlefield 3 is their favorite. On a side note, Sony's new portable, the PlayStation Vita, was named Best Hardware of the show. Here's the list:
- Best of Gamescom: Battlefield 3
- Best Hardware or Hardware Accessories: PlayStation Vita
- Best Console Game: FIFA 12
- Best Mobile Game: Uncharted: Golden Abyss
- Best Online Game: Star Wars: The Old Republic
- Best PC Game: Diablo III
- Best Browser Game: The Sims Social
- Best Family Game: Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster
It's also nice to see Uncharted: Golden Abyss get some love. That's almost guaranteed to be one of the best launch titles for the Vita. As for Diablo III, we're still assuming it'll come to consoles as well but what we really need first is a release date. And by the way, I just have to say it- the day I care about a "browser game" is the day I'm full-on loopy and drooling into a little plastic cup.

Anyways, definitely getting Battlefield 3 on PC and definitely getting Uncharted Golden Abyss with my Vita purchase.
I was really glad to see Tim Schafer getting some love with Double Fine's Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster. I don't have kids, but that guy really knows how to make a fun game!!

It can't be the 3ds, that's already launched? So what could it have been?
And dude, that is *the* avatar. That girl is my new hero.

That game right there is the title that *may* pull me back to PC gaming. I've already started to seriously consider investing in a new gaming rig because of this game.
If the metascore will match the expectations then one word: Sold.

But if I am to build a gaming PC today I would build it into one of those cabinets that makes the PC look more like a stereo rack and place the ps3 on top of it. Google "Thermaltake SD200" if you want to see an example of a nice cabinet.
Add to that a wireless keyboard, controller and mouse and hook it up to your TV set and it's not that much of a difference from playing on the ps3.
