Hitman Dev: We Listen, But We "Won't Be Dictated To"
Here's the problem with listening to the fans: you can't listen to all of them.
I.e., you can't make everyone happy. This is the problem facing developer IO Interactive concerning their new project, Hitman: Absolution. Fan feedback has already started to flow, and some of it is highly critical; many long-time followers are accusing the designers of "dumbing down" the new entry. In response, here's what IO's Tore Blystad told VG247:
"There's always people in the office checking up (on comments from fans), especially on the Hitman forums. We want to probably know what they're thinking, and we want to make a game that people like, not just a game we like and no-one else cares about.
We'll listen to them, but we won't be dictated to by the fans because we also have so many segments of fans that we could listen to one group say, 'the game has to be more difficult than any other Hitman.' Well, that's going to be hard for us to pull off if you make a game of this magnitude."
Many complain about the new Instinct mode, which lets Agent 47 spot his foes through walls. It also seems we may be missing the trademark map screen, and the ultra-linear approach has other fans grumbling. It has been a while since we've seen Hitman so the ardent followers are understandably anxious for a new adventure. And the bottom line is, it has to be great. Added Blystad:
"It has to be great. There's no option. Everybody in the team and in the studio is focused on this, it's the most important thing for us."

Are new gamers that lame, that they can't play a game without shortcuts? First was Driver, with the stupid car switcheroo, now Hitman will let you see through walls... Can they just leave these franchises alone and give their games a new name or something?
"Winter is Coming" It truly is :(

I don't remember much of it but I do have this scene in my head where I was supposed to infiltrate a large posh estate, and I wondered if I should sneak in through the back door dressed as a server or act as a flower delivery boy going through the main gate? And furthermore, those two approaches resulted in very different challenges once inside?

Instinct mode admittedly has me a little worried, but I trust IO enough to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I've said this before and I'll keep saying it:
As long as achieving Silent Assassin is still doable in each mission, 'Absolution' remains a day-one purchase for this long-time 'Hitman' fan.

A majority of the multiplats *do* play better on the 360. That's just a state of fact.
Just about every single person amongst us who enjoyed ME2 has mentioned how happy we are that franchise came to us too and how we wish we had the first ME as well. That's a fact too.
I love my PS3 and would choose that over a 360 anytime. At the same time, I understand those who choose different.
But the damn fanboyism of *both* sides I would very much like to be without.
I wish you welcome, NLCanada. I never mind to hear from those who see things from another perspective, a different point of view.
Just tread a bit more careful. This is after all a Sony lair, and you'll get further with your opinions by playing your cards a bit more subtle. The assassin approach. :)

I might be wrong but I thought he was either taking a dig at NLCanada's post, or maybe of that whole M$ & developers dumb-down games mentality(in general), due to the 360 being the console of lesser discabilities.
Edit: Well since I see that MainEvent just responded before I posted mine, I see it was my 2nd choice, LOL....
"And I agree"

remember what happened when they did that for assassins creed?
so many people bitched that the originals cut scenes after a target was assassinated were too long.
which they wernt, they were the best part of the game!
they were a chance to offer a different side to the story, have the characters plead their case.
now there pretty much gone!
tbh this looks like splinter cell conviction to me!
a great well designed open fun game, but much more geared to action then stealth.
it needs the branching storyline and gameplay choices of deus ex human revolution.
but i doubt will be getting it, it just looks like a linear story, this is how its set, and whether you go in guns playing the game like gears 3, or a proper hitman title will make no difference.
not saying it looks bad, i loved conviction!
BUT it just does not look like a hitman game!

I am not sure the exact percentage of people who post on forums vs those who actually bought the game, but the number can't be that big.
