Feast Your Eyes On Assassin's Creed: Revelations Gameplay

We love Assassin's Creed.

And that's why we're excited to present you with nine and a half minutes of the upcoming new installment, straight from GamesCom. It's mostly all gameplay and as you can see, the fans are going to appreciate the return of that recognizable - and totally bad-ass - combat mechanic. You may also notice a few new elements, which we're definitely anticipating.

Unless Ubisoft makes a colossal mistake, all indications are that Assassin's Creed: Revelations will be a Game of the Year contender. The skeptical part of us remains concerned that the publisher may have rushed this one, what with the new "annual-ization" trend adopted by huge franchises. But we'll try and ignore that nagging fear. This looks great.

Sweet! I like that little bomb trap he left by the dead guard. Oh and... Altair!!

Man, I can't wait. This franchise has me wrapped around it's pinky finger.

Looks great! Ezio looks so old now, wow. It felt like I've seen him grow "from a boy to a man" too.
Everything else is very nicely done.

Cannot wait!

Looks terrific! This is definitely one of my fav series.

One thing I couldn't help but notice was the screen-tearing. Hope it gets cleaned up.

Aside from Ubi's patented bad screen tearing and frame rates it looks perty good. I love the atmosphere they have going on with the fog and stuff. The combat looks like it might be a tad slicker too. If they keep making these without an ACIII we're just gonna have to call him "Old Ezio" after our hero Old Snake.

I'm excited for this, I have been for all installments after the first game.

However ACIII has to be around the corner soon, can't stretch it out too much then the fans will become a bit annoyed.

this'll be good…i've bought all the AC games on d1… but i've noticed that this series goes down in price very fast, so i'm going to wait for the price to drop to around $30 … my wallet is feeling quite tight as of recently :(

I can't wait, although I'm ready for a new assassin though.

I am glad they are giving ezio a proper good bye though.

I tried, it's... ugh I shouldn't even say. I really want to like it so I plan to try again when I have time. I still own it so it's there if I have the patience. Everything is just so stilted and awkward, there's nothing remotely intuitive about the controls so when you go into it don't expect fluidity with anything. It will fight you every inch of the way.

It's a step up from the first AC, it's definitely not as repetitive the first one suffered from with plenty of missions to entertain you and you can actually tell the difference in locations on where you're at. Control wise, I'm not exactly sure on what you would be expecting, it's expanded from the first and to me it seems fine... You can actually avoid the beggars easier now too :P

Never understood World's problem with the controls.

As most every critic will say, they're about as fluid and intuitive as humanly possible. I still think he's not playing it right...

Just like Ben said...nothing is wrong with the controls what so ever.

@Claira...AC2 has a better story, but as far as satisfying gameplay goes...I view the sequels progression mirrors Infamous 1 to Infamous 2. Infamous was entertaining, but the sequel blew me away. Brotherhood was shockingly better than AC2.

really having a hard time finding fault in the controls to be honest. I hated the first game, loved the second. brotherhood was pretty swell too

I must not be, the execution reminds me of Two Worlds II and the controls on that flustered me as well.

I've been waiting to talk about AC actually. I played the first and really wanted to love it...after all, I was waiting for this game when it was still slated to be a PS3 exclusive back in 06 ;).

So I played AC1 and just couldn't fall in love with it. Don't really care for the 3'rd crusade and all that jazz. The gameplay was okay but something was missing.

So years later, actually two weeks ago, I decided to buy AC2 cause it was only 15 bucks. OMG that was the best thing I could have done. Now I truly understand why Ben loves the franchise so much. The gameplay has improved TENFOLD! The environments are just freaking gorgeous and I love me some late 15 century renaissance.

Story does a great job still, mixing faux and actually history, and does a better job with the sci-fi. If you read all the codex and hunt for the "truth" you'll walk away with a greater understanding of the story AC is trying to tell.

I've even gone as far as to read the comics and getting into the books. I'm going to try to get into bloodlines to fill in the huge ass gap at the end of AC2. That was annoying as hell to realize I had to get another game just to find out what the hell he was doing all that time.

After all of that I'm definitely going to get brotherhood and finish it just in time for Revelations. OMG I'm obsessed!

Oh and the controls are fantastic for the console. Trust me, I played AC2 for the PC. The controls were just trash. I played the 1 hour PSN+ trial and omg the difference was night and day. They really were intuitive. But that's just all opinion so yea.

World: Oh wow. If you're comparing to Two Worlds, you're definitely NOT playing AC right. I think maybe you're fighting it rather than the game fighting you...

It's a little different than other games, in that you sort of flow with Ezio, rather than causing him to flow. It's hard to explain, actually. There's a rhythm to it, in regards to both general movement (what they call Free Running) to combat. I didn't get it at first, either, but once I did, it was perfect. :)

You're confusing things Claire, like Demon's Souls and Metal Gear solid 4 I can "see the greatness" I just can't feel it for myself. Kinda like Ben and Elder Scrolls. I keep asking "Why am I playing this?" and the game has no answer.

My brain hates when the same button does myriads of things at different times. If I tell it to do something then it better damn well do it or it's just altogether unreliable.

Still, maybe I put it in tonight. The save is locked so I have to start all over again anyway.

Definately worth playing, even more so now as it'll be quite cheap!
World, I can see you designing a gamepad in the future - only prob is there'll be hundreds of buttons that do one thing only!

The real time cinematic angles are impressive. And besides the screen-tearing, the occasional framerate hitches, and muted colors, the production as a whole is coming remarkably close to Uncharted quality. I'll be sure to catch up on Brotherhood when this one releases.

hopefully the stories a little better this time though.
i mean brotherhood was pretty disappointing compared to the amazing deep complex story of the first 2.
until the end of course, then it starts to get interesting, then just ends!
hopefully it starts right where brotherhood left off, i really want a explanation to its ending.
O, and a explanation to all the emails you can read outside the animus.

Loved ACII but am dubious of yearly releases so left Brotherhood alone. Think it may be time to get back in to this one. Two years is a better amount of time to see some improvements.

I've been to Istanbul several times as well and love the history of the place so this is definately a plus!

May wait for it to drop in price mind you as games are expensive in Australia.

Uncharted 3 however has my full attention firstly though.
