Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection Set To Blast From The Past

The Mortal Kombat reboot turned out wonderfully but you know, sometimes we just get the hankering for some true old-school fun.

And if you want a walk down memory lane (a lane admittedly lined with blood spatters), you should check out the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that the assembly of fighting classics will hit the PlayStation Network in North America on August 30. It'll launch worldwide on the PSN, PC, and on the Xbox Live service the following day.

This collection features the original arcade trilogy: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Mortal Kombat 3. It'll be available for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points and it's bound to scratch that golden age arcade itch. The game will also feature online matches, leaderboards, trophies/achievements, and of course, the original arcade ladder. Yeah, we can once again relive the cheapness of Shao Khan and the difficulty of those last few matches on the ladder...all without a pile of quarters.

I snagged MK2 for $2.99 last summer thanks to being a Plus member and I regard that as the greatest fighting game EVER so I doubt I pick this up anytime soon.

I have to admit, I figured you would have flocked to N4G by now like the rest of the trolls.

If I ever find the single wide you're living in I'm going to set it on fire.

@EADixxieQA360

I see no correlation between you having hobbies and other people not having time to comment here lately.

Come to think of it, who says it has anything to do with time?

I forgot it was a Reply @LV bringing up the kids and outdoor stuff which in this case hobbies/activities. Anything takes time which I never mentioned.

yeah I already have MK2, I thought 3 was the beginning of the downward spiral for the game until very recently. Running, combos, and extra limbs in fatalities killed it for me.

Secret about me: When MK1 came out for SNES I started every school day by knocking somebody into the pit before heading off to the bus :)

My new fav would be the current MK, but my old-time-fav would be UMK3. I suck at both of them, though. I have a hardcore friend who eats MK and Transformers for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I'm pretty aware of the "going's-on" with all things MK.

I still have my PS1 copy of UMK3. Good times around the tv with friends, and sometimes beer. Those matches got interesting, lol.

I thought the last game was UMK3, that was the only reason I was going to buy this game...

Can't wait for this, hope the audio is decent though. the audio in MKII always annoyed me how unbearably loud it was.

My PS1 version of MK Trilogy is still dandy so I have no need for this. if it had an online mode I may have been more convinced.

This would be cool an' all for nostalgia's sake. I played it a bunch with friends when I was basically a kid.

But I feel like if I bought it now, it would see little to no play time. Nice memories, but I think it'll stay as a memory for me.

I read on other sites that it doesn't come with MK3, it comes with Ultimate MK3. :) @ 10 bucks, this is a bargain!
