Insomniac: Another Developer May Get Resistance 4
Insomniac is one hell of a developer. Can you imagine if another team picked up the Resistance franchise...?
First, the studio's creative director, Marcus Smith, said another developer could potentially handle the creation of Resistance 4. But in speaking to VideoGamer, Insomniac writer Jon Paquette said he'd rather keep Resistance in-house although ultimately, it'd be Sony's decision. Said Paquette:
"There are a lot of great developers out there. There are a lot of great shooter developers, and I'm sure there are a lot of people who would love to get their hands on Resistance because it's such a fun universe to create. I think Resistance is a fun place to play, with all the weapons, all the Chimera - it's a really great universe for games, because there are so many options."
Sony owns the IP so if they want to give Resistance to someone else, they could. But if they do, Paquette added that he'd like "have a lot of meetings" with the chosen developer, because as a writer, he knows a lot of the back story that shouldn't go ignored.
Resistance 3 will be on store shelves in less than two weeks, and it'll be interesting to see the critical and gamer reception. But if the series ended up going elsewhere, what studio would you like to see at the helm? Resistance has such a singular flair when it comes to shooters; we're worried that only Insomniac can maintain that style...

Anyway, I did really like that new story trailer for R3. They definitely learned some things in cinematography. I also like that it has it's eerie artistically inspired visual presentation. It appears more true to the first game like that.

Things aren't nearly as lopsided these days and many third party devs have no choice but to support 360.

I'd like to see Insomniac continuing the series. I mean, they've kept going with R&C, so why should things be any different just because they've moved on to Overstrike? They've said they enjoy their relationship with Sony and would like to continue to do exclusive games. And they're seemingly getter better with their designs and stories, so I'd like to see them see how far they can take Resistance.
Also, I don't know what developer they could put onto it. Guerilla, I think, would be a poor choice. Nihilistic... Nuh-uh. I'd like to see a new dev get their hands on it if someone must. As long as Insomniac stays on as Creative Consultant.

I say let it die *if* Insomniac don't want to make it, but definitely don't put another great IP on hold.
p.s. I'm not saying Resistance is not good, just that the other games are better.

ever since they announced they were going MP i knew they were going to forsake there beloved series and start new IPs!
i swear to god if they leave the best series ever made with a crappy kiddy co-op game ted price is going to wish he woke up with a horses head in his bed!
and they assured they were not abandoning sony and there beloved series.
your not?
so then why say we might send the series off to another developer?
that sounds like abandoning your beloved series to me!!!!!!!
sigh, just the billionth time a developers lied to their fans!
