Kevin Butler Channels Braveheart For The Chimeran Invasion

See? We told you Kevin Butler was the man.

Resistance 3 hits next week and we can't wait to try Insomniac's latest. And now that our favorite spokesman is back and better than ever, it's time to put him astride a horse and give him a famous speech. You wouldn't think it could work but somehow, it does. It's KB and R3. So we probably shouldn't be surprised; it's win-freakin'-win, ya know?

Obviously, he's pushing the precision shooter accessory for PlayStation Move, which some fans have found incredibly entertaining. It'll be interesting to see how Resistance 3 works with the full Move/shooter peripheral setup, but above all else, we just wanna take down the invading Chimera. And we're totally pumped and ready to storm the field!

I'm really glad Sony came up with the Kevin Butler ads. They're hilarious! Again though, they need to put them on TV more. As in MORE!

And I'm not sure if I'm the only one who noticed it but if you look closely at the character images inside the letters comprising the "Long Live Play" catchphrase, Ezio is the only non-first party character in there. I could be mistaken though as I can't quite really see who is in the "L" before him. Somebody from Resistance, perhaps?

Sharp eye on the Long Live Play hidden characters, I didn't catch that. The character in the L is actually the right hand side of the SOCOM 4 boxart haha!

I looked up the SOCOM4 box art and it sure is him. Thanks for the info! LOL I wonder why they did not use another more recognizable character instead. For example, a Chimera from Resistance (they do have the Helghast in there instead of Sev) or maybe Commander Shepard from Mass Effect. That said, I still like it!

It would've made sense, but I guess the mentality is that this is already a Resistance ad so there's no need to show the characters out of context? Either way, the PlayStation exclusives are amazing, can't go wrong!

I sort of want to play this game now. I don't know when I'll get to it. I tried the multiplayer stuff. I thought it was good enough stuff. Nothing I could get into past a few sessions, but I liked some of the tech I was seeing, an improvement over R2. They actually appear to finally have a dynamic global HDR lighting system in place-'bout time. If anyone knew, the first two games didn't have it. Going from a dark low level light place to a brightly lit outdoor scene didn't cause the "iris effect" that many other games do. There were a handful of spots in R2 that simulated it, through pre-programmed "trip zones" but it wasn't ever legit stuff. The Utah level would've benefited greatly from a good lighting system like they have in R3.

My arms would get so tired with that thing. I'll stick to my controller. I hope R3 does really well, but even if it pulls down 10s I think the public will fail to give it the proper respect and sales. Could you imagine the hype Resistance would have if it were on Xhoax?

Ah, off track there, anyway... I never see KB on TV but maybe it's just because I don't tend to watch the crap shows that get targeted for video game ads (anything on MTV). KB makes watching commercials fun.

Lol he's on a horse! Nice to have a shoutout with my hometown landmark in the tv spot. Also nice to know that the Arch can hold up to the Chimera trying to wipe out humanity. I wouldn't mind having the Sharpshooter, if I had a bigger tv, so I'll be using the DS3.

Really enjoying my time with the beta. It could look better, hoping its just due to the beta. Thankfully the single player looks great in my eyes. not KZ3 or Crysis 2 great, but i like what ive seen so far

I thought id hate the fact that its 8 on 8 but it works out well. it does seem like they may have copied a bit from CoD, but i like it still

I hope it's not turned into a rail shooter like KZ3 to accommodate that shooter accessory. The game will be mine, I'm a big fan of the franchise I just hope it hasn't been compromised.

embargo for this apparently ends the day the game comes out.
WTFs the point of holding back reviews till release day?
all that does is make people more reluctant in preordering it!
what are $ony trying to hide?
i always said this game was going to suck ever since they showed off the first teaser trailer.
please dont make me say i told you so!
this is insomniacs last ps3 exclusive, or what looks to be, so please at least leave on a high not a OMFG what was that sh*t!?

no, not yet but theres a first for many things.
the demo was a f*cking mess, the beta was a f*cking mess, and the trailers and live demos they have shown off dont look half as good as the original!
so yes i will judge it.

Ummm...last PS3 exclusive? Okay blankey, even if they do drop Resistance, I doubt they'll drop Ratchet, and I HIGHLY doubt that will go multiplat, unless IG wants angry fans with pitchforks at their doors.

As for the embargo thing, you were making a good point until you went batsh*t crazy again and starting saying how R3 is the worst thing ever because Sony (like all other publishers I might add) has an embargo on reviews. Oh, btw, the demo was not a mess, the beta was not a mess, and the trailers/live demos I've seen are better than the first one ever was.

But hey, don't mind me, keep those hate rants a-comin. I enjoy picking apart the stupid things you say.

no the beta was not a mess.
thats why they had to take down the matchmaking system for weeks!
thats why there is still hundreds of posts each day popping up on myresistance.net of people complaining they cant get into a single match, and when they do its lag central!
yea, you believe whatever you want to believe.

I am pumped for this one. Out of any shooter releasing this year, R3 is the one I have most anticipated. And this commercial is perfect for building up the hype, even though it should be played a whole lot more.
