DICE On Mirror's Edge Sequel: "Nothing's Impossible"
Yeah, it's true; we've heard this before. EA has often said Mirror's Edge isn't dead. ...that rhymes, doesn't it?
But it's great to hear the developer say it. When visiting DICE's HQ in Stockholm, OXM UK received a few encouraging statements from Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Bach. After noticing all the Faith art decorating the studio, the journalist had to ask the obvious question. To which Bach replied:
"Nothing's impossible.
The only thing we can talk about and be open about is that we have not killed the franchise, and you can see that within these walls. We're still talking about it, and there's no closure on it.
The only thing that we have decided is that whatever we're doing in this office right now, when it comes to that we're not talking about it. The only thing I can say officially is that we definitely haven't killed the franchise. As you noticed, we still love it - we just need to find out how..."
We really want that sequel and we're hoping that after Battlefield 3 is out the door, EA will give DICE the green light. It's just one of those refreshing games that really captivated us, primarily because we understood the innate potential of the concept. Besides, the game itself was great fun; if you haven't played it, we strongly suggest giving it a try.

The things they need to do is really focus on the concept of the game. First person view parkour for SURVIVAL & OBJECTIVE COMPLETION. It's cool that you can grab weapons and such and use them against enemies. But attacking enemies should not become a requirement like they were doing near the end of the game.
Also...even though it's quite difficult considering how big the metropolis is, they should have definitely have different looking levels.
Next, get a better story. Something that captivates us and actually makes us running and jumping to find out what will happen next. Then it truly will be a thrilling masterpiece.
Lastly, make it a bit longer. The last one...including the E-surance like cutscenes (which I don't mind)...from start to finish the game was about 2 hours long. Come on now...at least push it up to 5 hours.
All the requests I have for DICE will be kind of frustrating to accomplish, but in the end they will have one hell of an awesome game.
And bring back "STILL ALIVE" as a theme song. Keep it!

But hey, if DICE can streamline the game, run it with that FB 2.0 engine, then we should be good. Also, there was a bit more that could've been done in terms of variety, and yeah, not having to take out the armed guards with guns, being a free runner and all. The length of the game may not have been enough for some, but for someone who rarely gets to game on a regular basis, this game was almost perfect. I guess that's why I was able to beat it, lol.
Either way DICE, bring out Mirror's Edge 2 please!
