Surprise, Activision Wins ModernWarfare3.com Decision
Well, it was funny while it lasted.
Some time ago, a website called "ModernWarfare3.com" led to a Battlefield 3 promotional site, and Activision wasn't amused. Now, the matter has been settled...and the result isn't exactly surprising.
The National Arbitration Forum has ruled in favor of Activision and its bevy of lawyers. It was decided that the three criteria necessary for a domain name transfer (the name is confusing, the holder has no real interest in the name, and the name is "being used in bad faith") have been met and therefore, the panel ordered that the domain be turned over to Activision. For now, "ModernWarfare3.com" is down but when it comes back, you can bet it'll feature the new Call of Duty and there won't be any sign of EA's shooter.
Unfortunately for Florida resident Anthony Abraham, who attempted to prove that the term "modern warfare" was generic enough to exist outside the video game realm, he'll have to try something else to get attention.
