Uncharted 3 Sand Art: An Expressive, Impressive Homage

Those familiar with the Uncharted franchise appreciate its fantastic atmosphere, environment and artistry.

Developer Naughty Dog excels in this capacity. They also happen to excel in just about every other aspect of interactive entertainment, from mechanics to storytelling to technical achievement. But even the talented artists at the studio would be impressed by this amazing bit of sand art. If you've never seen it before, the artist creates unbelievable scenes with sand; the inspiring sounds of a full orchestra complement the work.

The London Philharmonic paid homage to original video game compositions, and let's not forget that this very same game enjoyed a showing at the prestigious Louvre Museum this past May. If you haven't yet determined that gaming continually breaks new ground in all forms of artistic entertainment, it's time to...well, recognize the times.

A thread in the forums dealing with random Youtube videos got me into this style of art a few years ago. Awesome to see it hit being done for Uncharted.

I'm sold. Run one of those segments and then overlay the actual shot from the game and run it as the commercial. The music is perfect, the sand art is unbelievably good. That would be such a different kind of commercial, I think it would really spark interest.

I truly adore this kind of art. It's amazing, at the very least. Being an artist myself, I've always wanted to try this art form. It's fascinated me from the very moment I laid eyes on it.

It makes me wish I had spent my time in the sandbox creating art instead of slinging mud at girls. That is really impressive. This style of art is perfect for the setting of the game.

I've seen sand arts before, They impress me all the time.
