PSXE Poll Update: Gamers Expected Resistance 3 Quality
Resistance 3As many of you have already found out for yourselves, Resistance 3 is a damn good game.
But that didn't really surprise you, did it? When we asked if you thought Insomniac's new shooter would meet expectations, the majority said it probably would. And lo and behold, we receive what is in our opinion one of the most entertaining titles of the generation. Featuring a fantastic campaign, an amazing soundtrack, and one of the most effective and overall bad-ass arsenals in FPS history, Resistance 3 is a definite crowd-pleaser. The multiplayer isn't anything too special but it's solid and great fun if you've got some interested friends.
This week, we learn that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is 90% complete and we just have to ask: what's your take on the whole thing? Is this the game that will help Square Enix reclaim its former glory? Does it matter to you that it's more of an action/RPG than anything else? Let us know.

Graphically the series has always been amazing... I guess if you want extended animation sequences these newer derivatives are yours; but where have the RPG elements gone to?

Insomniac may b my favorite dev because they are incapable of a bad game. SE on the other hand could use a little saving grace...
Overall I'm impressed and glad insomniac is getting some love cuz they obviously worked their arses off to deserve it.

i cant believe how buggy R3 is!
i mean the extended 3 year development time instead of 2 years, and the fact that resistance games are normally pretty solid.
R3 though i was playing the 2nd level i think it was in the mine where you first meet the cloaked snipers.
inside where the mines are where you get chased by the leapers, there was only like 3 on screen and it was lagging like i was playing crysis on a 20 year old PC!
i have NEVER played a game with such a unstable frame rate!
going from 60FPS to 30 was a massive mistake!
every game insomniac has made has been pretty solid and pretty reliable, but now that they have dropped it down to 30 everythings gone out the freaking window!
i even got to play a little of the R&C all 4 one beta last night, even that was a bit of a mess.
they have totally noobafied the game, i mean WTF is this auto aim bull sh*t?
in a freaking R&C game?
they really want to turn it into a kids game!
insomniac have become my most hated developer!
first they sh*t on resistance, and now they turn R&C my most beloved series of all time into a freaking 5 year olds game!
as for XIII-2 you need a extra option on the pole.
or replace FF is dead with $E is dead.
not only is FF dead, all of $E series are dead too simply because they will do exactly what they did to FF to them.
tis exactly why i dont want to see a KH 3, i know they will do what insomniac did and turn it into a freaking kids game!

you could aim with the right stick before, now for some stupid reason thats used to change weapons.

no it does not, insomniac said that ACIT would be there last game running at 60FPS as they say they found they can make there games look better at 30.

What game were u playing exactly? I've played through r3 nearly 2 times over and never have had any lagging issues. Frames per second? That so irrelevant seeing as most games only ever run at 30. My guess is u went through the entire game looking for something negetive in insomniacs masterpiece. If insomniac was indeed ur favorite developer u could look past some of its minor flaws. But as usual all u come on this site to do is bash every little thing about every minor detail of every single game. 100% of the time. This article is about r3 being positively critiqued by members on this site. So instead of doing the opposite as everyone else, I'm gonna challenge u to find 5 things u actually liked about r3 only because I don't think your capable of a positive statement or compliment
Why can't u just play the games for the fun man? U gotta learn to lighten up a bit...

And whenever I play Resistance 3, my TV details that it is displaying at 60hz, when most 30FPS are displayed at 30. And I've found nothing to contradict that, so unless you have a link...

well i dunno about you but i would not call running into no less then 8 game breaking bugs stopping my from progressing a few flaws!
right, the game lagging and freezing is irrelevant.
now i know your crazy!

how about i double that?
1 the story is surprisingly really good.
2 the last few moments of the game are the best last few moments in a game ever!
3 the characters have real emotion to them, allot of games these days their characters feel plastic feel fake.
this though just has allot of emotion in it.
4 so happy the regenerative health is out!
so freaking sick of it!
5 so happy the weapon wheel is back, so sick of the 2 or 3 weapon limit almost every shooter imposes on us!
6 allot of games these days have collectables but they dont really do anything, where resistance has always buckled that.
its really interesting reading malikovs diarys,
and gets a quite emotional reading some of the other logs from others.
7 its nice to see a resistance game set in a few different places instead of brown, brown, and more brown!
8 the death cry of the chimera, every time i heard it just sent chills flying up my spine.
9 i really enjoyed the earlier levels with the zombie styled enemies it created allot of tension being ambushed.
10 its nice to see a cheats system in the game you can use once you have finished the game, and trophies dont get automatically disabled if you use them.

O, and no im not a huge insomniac fan i just have a massive spyro tattoo on my back, have all the original spyro games on my shelf, have my house literally framed in R&C and spyro gear, and the first thing i did when $ony refused to replace my 60GB BC console for me first thing i did was go and buy a slim ps2 just so i could play my copy of up your arsenal.
yea, im not a insomniac fan ive just done all that for the sake of it!

The entire section before New York is absolutely amazing.
R3 is by far my favorite FPS story ever.

As for FF, any of them. Each provides a very different experience so it is difficult to recommend one more over the other to someone who has yet to play one.
If you can withstand PS1 graphics sure go for one of the PS1 games, I'll be suprised if your dissapointed. I would go with Either VII or IX, as VIII's spell management can be a bit daunting to one who is not used to RPG's. VII's Materia system is very easy to get used to along with IX's where you learn abilities through your equipment.
FFXIII is not as bad as everyone says, quite the contrary actually and it goes for very cheap pre-owned nowadays too so I also recommend it.
