Max Payne 3 First Official Trailer: New Look, Similar Problems

We were excited to learn that Max Payne 3 would arrive in March 2012, and now we're even more excited.

The first official trailer for the highly anticipated title is here, and although it doesn't show any gameplay, it certainly captures the gritty mayhem for which this revered series is known. Perhaps it's unfair to call it a "series" with only two entries but the third is a-comin', and Max has a new grizzled look and a whole new set of problems. No matter where he goes, pain seems to follow in abundant supply...

The first quarter of next year already has a few big-name productions (Mass Effect 3 and Final Fantasy XIII-2 among them), but we believe Rockstar's latest can hold its own. Remember, these are third-person shooters with very well-written stories; the plot is a driving force at all times, so don't think it's just another mindless action game. That would be a mistake, as the Max fans will tell you.

I've been waiting for a new Max Payne for years now..I'm gonna go ahead and make my pre-order today for this. Especially since Max won't have this disturbed/uncomfortable look stuck on his face anymore..

Looking good, hope the story is good and the action epic. We could be looking at one of next year's best games...

Looks very cinematic...hope the story isn't cliche and I hope the twist isn't as far fetched as LA Noire's.

It's visual style is quite a departure from the previous games. While I liked what I saw, I jsut do not know if I saw Max Payne.

Not sure on his new look, he looks quite menacing lol. Oh well time will tell if it's worth his new look or what it's all about loved Max Payne 1 and 2 reboot in HD please Rockstar :)

Looks like a Jason Statham action film. I do actually quite enjoy them too. It's not Max Payne though.

I like the sloppy makeover they gave him. Looks like a man on a mission, not a man out of a beauty parlor. Gameplay looks pretty sweet, too! The bullet trails and pace of the action is reminiscent of the old school game.

Edit: That is if the pace of action carries on to actual gameplay...

I think the trailer for Max Payne 3 got mixed up with some other game trailer. This is not the Max fans wanted. What a disappointment. :(

looks like i gotta go back to the optomitrist, he did it all wrong!
this is one thing i hate about R* trailers though, they never show a actual level though it feels more like a teaser trailer.

So he gained some weight (like he wouldn't with all of the issues he suffered on MP 1 & 2). What's the big issue around it? I was reluctant at first. But hey, didn't Assasin's Creed's Ezio changed a lot from AC 2 to AC:Brotherhood?

The trailer looks very interesting and I hope to see more of this game. Content will be key here, but I haven't seen Rockstar having any problem on that department.
