Rumor: Bayonetta Returning With An "Animated Component"

Bayonetta was a critical and financial success and for some time, we've been expecting Sega and Platinum Games to announce a sequel.

Thankfully, according to an inside source speaking to TSSZ, that announcement could arrive this week. The Toyko Game Show runs for the next couple of days, so now would be the time to unveil Bayonetta 2. Or maybe it'll be a spin-off of some kind; we're not really sure.

Furthermore, the source claims Sega Sammy's animation studio Marza Animation Planet is currently cranking away on "an animated component to the franchise." We don't have any further details at this time, but such a hint is intriguing...and considering the leggy, sexy witch in question, that animation could be borderline manga. But we won't sell Bayonetta short; the original involved one of the deepest and most satisfying combat mechanics in action history.

As for a possible sequel, they had best produce a competent PlayStation 3 version this time. Platinum Games proved they could handle Sony's machine with Vanquish, so we imagine they won't disappoint PS3 fans with another Bayonetta.

I loved Bayonetta and I've been hoping for a sequel. I believe Platinum wont make the same mistake twice.

Now PG would be really, really cool if they take the time to port the original Bayonetta using their upgraded engine and toss it on the BD-ROM as an added bonus. THat way fans aren't forever stuck with a sloppy port handled by someone other than Platinum.

Now of course, if MS would have their way, they could threaten closing their doors to SEGA on this one if they so desired. Ultimately I think it'd be retarded to say I'll take nothing unless you give me it all, but, you know, it's MS... things don't always make sense over there.

How do you know they're better then the new DmC when you haven't played it yet, now if you were to say Bayonetta is better than DMC4 & DMC2, then yes you would be correct.

if they improve on what was already a great game, then they cant go wrong. no sloppy ports this time = less ps3 fans saying ur game sucks because of sloppiness. The game was amazing, unfortunately just not on the ps3

Depending on whats shown, im sure it would excite me more than the dmc reboot as Platinum Games has already proven it can make a really deep, FUN fighting system.

IMHO, Team Ninja just hasn't really proven it can make a deep fighter yet, but maybe they will with dmc

Yeah gameplay was good, but a better story would help it out immensely, same goes for Vanquish and perhaps a much longer SP campaign.....

if PG is going to do a sequel for the love of god please leave that over hyped most overrated game of the generation alone!
it would be interesting to see a sequel to vanquish though.
though id much rather see a new IP.
or even better a sequel to mad world, the first, and only f*cking awesome game PG has made!
im shocked the original has not been brought over yet, especially since the dead rising pack is.
come on sega i want to be slicing enemies in half with dumpsters and hurling enemies into jet engines all in glorious HD!

besides all the technical hitches the gameplay was far too simplistic a real button masher.
the story was just stupid.
the cheesiness of the story, and the sluttyness of bayonetta herself just really got on my nerves.
its like garsea and his constant d*ck jokes.

If you play it as a button masher, you're not getting anywhere. The depth of that mechanic is so insane, real action fans spent a very long time mastering the gameplay.

Saying Bayonetta is a "button masher" is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard anyone say.

But why am I not surprised?

As long as Platinum Games themselves are working on the PS3 version as the lead platforum (like they did with 'Vanquish') instead of letting Sega hire a room full of chimpanzees to work on a port, the PS3 version should look great.

Would be interesting though to see a 'Bayonetta' sequel. Not only will it be amazing but it'll be the FIRST time Hideki Kamiya will be in the directorial position of his OWN creation's sequel.

Capcom betrayed him by handing the director reigns for 'Devil May Cry 2' to someone else (we saw how that turned out), whereas he was too busy to direct 'Viewtiful Joe 2' while working on 'Okami'.

'Bayonetta 2' should be much bigger, longer, and more beautiful if Kamiya gets to direct.
