Ni No Kuni PS3 Hits North America Early Next Year

If you were excited to hear about the new NIS offerings, this will make you squeal like a schoolgirl.

The PlayStation 3 version of Ni no Kuni will launch in Japan on November 17. We've known that for a while. But what we didn't know was whether or not the Level-5 title would ever see the light of day in North America.

Thankfully, it was announced during the Sony Computer Entertainment Asia press conference that the fantasy RPG would indeed be coming to North America in "early 2012." Level-5 president Akihiro Hino said the English version of the game is currently in production, which ought to make all the JRPG fans plenty happy. If you're not familiar, Ni no Kuni debuted on the Nintendo DS and the PS3 version tells a different story, and also features updated visuals (as if you didn't already know).

Well, that's good news, right? Who will be picking this one up when it arrives early next year?

This is really great news and Im shocked the wait wont be long. They could make it perfect by releasing the ps3 bundle here.

I was also surprised it's coming so soon, but they did open localization studio here so all it means they planned for this from the beginning.

Okay, so I know practically nothing about this game, but I will purchase it based on two things: 1) The good people at PSXExtreme, editors and readers alike, are excited about it, so I am, too! 2) I will ALWAYS support JRPGs coming to the US. Good on ya, Level 5!!

Level-5 officially > Nintendo this generation.

Seriously, it sucks. Nintendo has some GREAT looking JRPGs on the Wii that they won't localize to North America yet Level-5 will localize a beautiful game such as this so soon after the Japanese release?! Amazing. Love them.

Now where's Dark Cloud 3?

I have to accept that I already saw that title a few times in the web but never thought it was a jrpg. Might try this at some point early next year. Hopefully this can be the first jrpg game for a long chain to come to America also.

Finally, the tap has been turned on.

In the last few days we've had good news for the JRPG genre.

Nice sales. It's good to see a PS3 JRPG with strong sales for once. Perhaps the market is re-awakening?

WKC 2 released this week, Atelier Totori releases next week,Fate/Extra comes later in the year, Tales of Graces F comes later, and Xillia sells well in it's first week (localization news soon?). The news of the FFX HD remaster for PS3/Vita. NISA's announcements, and now this from Level 5. Awesome.

Well, it looks more like Dark Cloud than White Knight Chronicles.

It is finally picking up on the JRPG front for PS3 only took 5 years.

Can't wait, and I sincerely hope that a European release isn't too far behind (although two months ahead again would be good :D). Game looks amazing.

The PS3 is region free, you could import the North American version and play it just as soon as Americans. :)

This is so great! Always was confident that this game would be localized simply by how many were translating it into english over the web but to actually hear that it's coming to North American so soon, unexpectedly made me so very excited.

As many have said, Square Enix has something to worry about since Level 5 has began showing that they are cappable of satisfying jrpg fans in the west and in general.

Keep it up L5. You may not have the resources that SE has as of yet but you have shown that you are able with what you do have. The first WKC wasn't bad lookig by any means IMO. Competition forces improvement.

I so agree with you on that! Rogue Galaxy is my favorite game by them. Played it pretty much non-stop til it was beaten. Seeing a sequel would be awesome, but if they do a sequel I hope they change the whole helping hand thing the first one had. It was really annoying that they told you how to beat bosses. I like to figure that stuff out on my own. Even bringing an HD collection with Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, and Rogue Galaxy would be good enough for me. :)
