Silent Hill: Downpour Trailer Gets A Helping Of Korn
The new Silent Hill has drawn plenty of attention, and this new trailer will succeed in earning even more popularity.
The video below is the one Konami presented at the Tokyo Game Show last week, and metal veterans Korn infuse a creepy, chilling atmosphere into a game that's already pretty darn frightening. This is the kind of trailer that might excite survival/horror fans, despite the fact that early gameplay footage didn't come across as impressive. We're holding out hope for a Silent Hill adventure that's both recognizable and effective.
In previous installments, Akira Yamaoka handled the music, but this time around, that job falls to Daniel Licht. If you're not familiar, he has handled the music for "Dexter" and might prove to be a good fit for Downpour. Either that, or Konami could just hire Korn to develop tracks for the gameplay. That could work, too.

Anybody else think they should do something new, maybe take this series and its creepy town back to the 1800's.

There are a few exceptions like the Gears of War 2 "Mad World" trailer, but music created exclusively for the atmosphere in a video game is something that I love so much more.
Like Final Fantasy, Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, all these games have music created for them and are by far some of the greatest compositions in the gaming industry.
In terms of the Silent Hill trailer, I reckon an original composition would've been far more effective, like Silent Hill 2. Or even complete silence with nothing but the sound of the character's breathing, snapping twigs, echoes of distant screams... (shivers) I just gave myself chills thinking about it.
Feels like video games are going the way of Hollywood, all glitz and glamour, all style, no depth, no emotion, no lasting experience. I hope not, and if Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 2 are anything to go by, the video games industry is heading towards both Hollywood action and artistic creativity on the same medium. Let's hope creativity and original ideas continue, cos I'm sick of CoD popularity.
**Gears 3 midnight launch tonight!!! Squeee!!**

Keep in mind I'm not going to say that the actual sound in the game will be like, but what were they thinking using that song in the trailer? Dancemachine has it right when she/he (don't mean to offend ;P) says that an original composition would have been more suited for the trailer.
When people think of Silent Hill some of the words that might pop into their heads will be "horror", "scary", "frightening" and yes all of these words are true, but one thing that these new Silent Hill developers forget is that a word that I personally think describes it better is "eerie". The games were always good at slowly immersing you in a horrific world by subtly introducing the atmosphere, which eventually leads into the more horrific events that unfold. This trailer does everything to blow that definition out of the water and just throws some flashy scare tactics while playing rock music.
I hope the game's presentation is nothing like this trailer. I still have high hopes for this game, and hope I'm not dissapointed. I seem to keep on giving this series a second chance because of the potential it could bring.

1.-Every time a new game comes out, I just love more Naughty Dog (read: awesome graphics with Uncharted series).
2.-Since Korn released their 2nd album, THEY SUCK!!!
Being a big fan of Silent Hill series, I don't know why I'm not exited about this game...it seems to me that it looks and feels like an old game.

first the interview with the developers sounded like they were not interested in making this a survival horror, more a creepy action game.
then the latest preview from IGN was not exactly glowing.
now this.
oh please if there really is a gaming god out there, can we PLEASE for once have a propper survival horror game!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
god, dont make me rely on RE6 doing it because we know that will never happen!
aliens colonial marines is not exactly looking like a real scary game either.
god help me, freaking doom 4 will probably be scarier then all of those put together!
amazing how much 5 years can change!
from the brilliance and peak of the genre, to the crappieness and death of it!
god, where are monolith when you need them!?
ok not exactly the pinnacle of horror developers, but there the only developers this gen to make even a half scary game!
god i wish they would do condemned 3!

And he's been doing a lot of soundtracks lately, like the Social Netowork and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
