THQ Taps Crytek For Next Homefront
Homefront really wasn't a bad game and it actually sold quite well.
Unfortunately, developer Kaos Studios didn't survive, as THQ closed them down soon after the game launched earlier this year. But the publisher doesn't want to abandon the name, as the title sold several million copies.
Enter award-winning shooter designer Crytek, known for their top-notch Crysis productions. THQ has tapped the European development studio to handle the next Homefront effort, which will release some time during the 2014 fiscal year. Said THQ boss Danny Bilson:
"Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent. Homefront's unique setting and storyline captivated gamers the world over. With Crytek's industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we're supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand."
Well, we have no doubt that Crytek can make good on Bilson's promise. Crytek founder and CEO Cevat Yerli said they view Homefront as a "really strong universe that has a lot of potential." Plus, with his studio's quality and creativity, he believes Crytek and THQ can provide gamers with a "truly blockbuster game." If you want to compete with the best, you should probably hire one of the best, right?
Obviously, it's a long ways off, but we'll keep an eye on this new Homefront project. We still wish Crytek had announced a new TimeSplitters, though.

It really felt weird killing people that were yelling at me in Korean. I would here them say something in the game like "There he is!" and then overhear students talking about me like that the next day (I stick out like a sore thumb). Don't worry, my first reaction wasn't to turn around and shoot them.
By the game was banned here. I had to order it from play-asia.
