God Of War Dev Working On New "Unannounced IP"
After God of War III released, developer Sony Santa Monica said they'd be taking a break from Kratos. But they're definitely working on a new project...what is it?
More evidence has arisen at Gamasutra, where we find a job listing for a Senior Level Designer. As expected, they're not telling us the game in question, but they do tell us it's an "unannounced new IP."
So given their expertise in the action genre, is it safe to assume we'll see something similar to God of War? Well, maybe not. The Santa Monica studio is seeking someone who has "experience in designing or contributing to the development of an 'open world' game," so we're at a loss. They couldn't be making a wide open RPG like The Elder Scrolls, could they? Or is it more likely to be closer to inFamous or Grand Theft Auto?
Well, either way, we hope they return to GoW at some point. It's one of Sony's signature franchises; it just can't go away.

Let it be a game with endless amount of stats, skills, buffs, boosts and butts. Player housing, decorations, collectibles, interior, exterior.
I don't ask for much!

The implant creation in AO was so complex that third party software were created to assist players in planning these layouts. I am not kidding.
We've not seen anything like that in regular single player RPGs yet but boy would it be awesome. It just has to happen someday!

That would be awesome, Guild system, crafting of Armour where you can actually design armor yourself with a system that they give you within the game.
Possibly upgrade paths, endless color schemes or magic effects like flames or something coming out of the Armour making it shiny or glow, and other things for customization like etching for the Armour to put an emblem on the set so people know who you belong with, or what guild it belongs to.
Tons of hairstyles, body types customization of the face eye's etc. Crafting of your own weapon, and designing it. Horses that you can ride, make it's own Armour and design it, different colors for the horse different breeds, possibly breeding of horses to make a better horse. And maybe a Unicorn with flames on the side spewing out rainbows and butter flies! Lol just kidding! Lots of weapons, shields, Armour, helmets, gauntlets.
And different clothing styles so if you don't want to wear Armour you don't have to, different dungeons, alternate realms, mythological beasts, maybe you can have some as a pet? (would be cool) Assassination missions, maybe you can be a Ninja, or if you want to live by nobility and honor you could be a Samurai? (I personally like Samurais and Ninja's).
I can think of more but it would be HUGE! :D

In my guild in Anarchy Online the developers actually created a set of social wear that had our name on them (The "Circle G uniform", our guild was named Circle G). An easy thing to do for them, but omg what a day that was for us.
In Star Wars Galaxies you could actually play an entire game being a hair dresser or design clothes or interior. Granted there were pre-designed items (you unlocked new designs and colour options when levelling) but you could set certain details.
And your idea of "crafting" (breeding) horses were *awesome* and something I've never heard of before! To combine two good, trained horses to breed a new horse with better stats? Omg what a cool idea. That has to be done someday...!
And it's long overdue to introduce ninjas to the RPG world.
We should sit down and write down a plan for the ultimate rpg someday. Then we just need a few coders, some graphics designers, and... A ps3 devkit? Yeah.

And I'm glad they're taking a break from GoW; it needs to be left to simmer for a while, and then they can bring it back and it'll feel fresh again (hopefully they can make even greater gameplay additions in it too).

For now, I'm curious what this "open-world" game will be. Most likely hack 'n slash but anything Santa Monica develops, I'll have eyes wide open.
