Atlus Will Maintain Demon's Souls Servers Into 2012
The spiritual successor to Demon's Souls is only a couple weeks away, but that doesn't mean Atlus is ready to abandon the online servers for the award-winning RPG.
The publisher has confirmed that the online functionality for Demon's Souls will roll on into 2012, which is good news for all the hardcore players.
If you never tried Demon's Souls, the online portion really was quite unique. Players can leave behind messages to assist other players, and they can also team up to take on particularly difficult foes. You can expect more of that in Dark Souls, which has gone gold and will launch on October 4. But if you're still going through one of 2009's best, or you want to try it before starting on the second game (not that this year's title is a direct sequel), Atlus will keep those servers running. So take advantage!

I have mixed feelings about it.
I wish PSN could be like Xbox Live (Sans EA Games)in the sense that no developer has to mantain it and therefore you can play online with another friend even if you two are the only ones in that game's online universe at that time.
Yet again, PSN is free for online play while Xbox live is not, but it is sad to see some PS games losing the online portion after just 2 or 3 years after release or even maybe sooner.

Demon Soul's has been getting it's online life extended but unfortunately, the writing is on the wall too and the end is getting closer.
And yeah, it is not very common yet, unless it's a game from EA. My Fifa 09 is online dead too (But on EA's case the xbox versions are dead too).
Developers should make a patch available to enable p2p conections when they are about to kill the servers.
