Sony: Personal 3D Viewer Will Take Games By Storm
3D gaming is in its infancy; we certainly haven't seen everything there is to see.
And Sony is claiming that their HMZ-T1 Personal 3D Viewer is going to revolutionize the industry. It launches in Japan this November and features two 720p OLED screens, capable of both 2D and 3D images. And yeah, those images will be directly in front of your eyes.
For the sake of piquing your curiosity, Sony has provided you with the following promotional pitch:
"Picture the scene. You're sharing your television with friends, and while they watch the latest blockbuster movie, you decide you'd rather get a high speed kick from Gran Turismo 5. Normally, short of grabbing the TV remote and upsetting your mates, there'd be little to do except sit and quietly imagine the thrill of the Nurburgring at 200 miles per hour, while waiting for the movie's credits to roll...
The Personal 3D Viewer is about to change all that, however, as you'll soon be able to immerse yourself completely in a private world of entertainment. Slipping the straps of the device around your head, you'll feel as though you're sat in your own personal cinema - complete with a dazzling 3D display and dynamic, 5.1 virtual surround sound."
Yes, you'll be able to immerse yourself in your own little world; the virtual landscape before you will create an experience like none other. Boasting a "high contrast TruBlack display" that is designed to enhance color and realism, this is about as close as we're gonna get to virtual reality. Plus, with "three-dimensional Virtual Phone Technology," we'll be able to hear footsteps approaching from all around us.
It's an easy device to use, too. Just use an HDMI cable to connect the Personal 3D Viewer to your PS3 and you're good to go. Built-in controls on the visor give you everything else you need. So, how do you see this going? A little creepy? Or just plain awesome?
"Get right into the heart of cutting-edge entertainment with a High Definition, 3D picture and 5.1 virtual surround sound and take centre stage in your favourite games and movies."

Like how Kinect is nothing but an Eyetoy with better hardware, but ITZ SO REVOLUTIONARy!1!!
Nintendo takes risks that don't dare take a leap into the future in direction, Nintendo takes leaps to the left or right and try to act all different and use what gimmicks they can and to try to use it as a means of something 'different', though the reality of it being just tacked on like cheap motion sensor bars which are just little tiny LED bulbs in a $5 rectangular stick thats awkward to hold and the 3DS......we all know how that turned out.
Least Sony tries to aim for both the casual and the hardcore, but when they DO try to please the hardcore, they do it with risks, money-wasting risks all for the consumer and for technology. It's why I prefer Sony over the others, they take risks that are basically for Us and their future, without Sony doing moves likes these there wouldn't be as much competition and for the rivals to try to push to surpass, which then would mean a stale god damn market with gimmicky shit that Microsoft pulls out.

A steady picture in front of your eyes, same distance, same angles, that should open up for possibilities of an awesome 3D experience!
Add to that the surround sound too, again the speakers are located at the exact same spot all the time, making it easier to let the audio closely follow an item in the 3D space.
What is the price estimate of this thing?

Neuro Goggles anyone? ( let's see who gets the reference )
Here comes "The World".
Hopefully though, creepy/crazy-ass Coma's don't come from a mysteries "Ding" noise.
But seriously, this is effing awesome. I'm more than interested in this. Me-thinks I'll start saving up now, cause I bet the price tag on these beauties will be a sock in the d*ck.

It could definitely be an option for those that don't have money to spend on a 3d tv and could make 3d more accessible thus more profitable for devs, possibly leading to more 3d support....If it doesn't flop.
Having some depth perception in something like tumble would be pretty nice imo.

If the technology is ready now to make something that actually works then bring it on I say! This is 3D gaming and Move combined! This can even be the tool that finally kills the mouse as a gaming device!
(Yes - I *so* want this one to work...!)

The trouble all of these products will have though is conveying depth of field in a way that human eyes can actually handle naturally. But that is a much longer and more technical discussion that happens several dozen pay grades and several dozen doctoral theses beyond us.

I have an old discountinued 32gb X series Walkman, i got while back. The price was around $400, but it incorporated a normanizer, equalizer, noise cancellation, and few other things too. IT's OLED screen was ok, but it allowed it to be light and compact.
In short, Great music player but an ok video player.
I Also have the '11' inch XEL-1 OLED tv, and on the other hand it's picture quality is amazing but the cost was $2500.
The old isue with OLED technology is increasing the life span of one of the doides that produced the color blue. I'm only going by memory and don't know the current state of OLED technology.
But i can say that the price is fare in my eyes, but ofcouse not ideal for the majority.
I will aquire this piece in time.
