BioWare: Don't Give Up Hope For A New Jade Empire
Yes, I'm aware it was never on a PlayStation platform but if BioWare did another entry, you can bet it probably would be. Besides, I remember really enjoying the game.
According to what BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk told the audience at the Eurogamer Expo, Jade Empire isn't dead and buried. In fact, the team is "just looking for the right way to deploy it."
Jade Empire was an RPG with an emphasis on martial arts in a colorful Asian setting, and fans have been hoping for a sequel. Of course, it has been over six years since the first title hit store shelves, so those fans have probably moved on. Not so fast, though... Said Muzyka:
"We've been talking a lot about that actually on and off over the years. It's an IP, it's a setting that we're really passionate about, and we still are. Both Greg and I were big believers in the IP.
We have a lot of different projects now on a lot of different platforms, and you might see some of that [Jade Empire] in the future. You never know."
They don't have anything to announce at this time but we get the message: don't give up yet! Yeah, it had insane loading times on the Xbox and there were a few small problems with the combat, but I loved the setting, style, and really cool martial arts focus. Choosing "good" (Open Palm) or "evil" (Closed Fist) really added to the depth, too.
Anyway, if we ever do hear about a Jade Empire 2, it's highly unlikely it'll be exclusive to the Xbox or PC. BioWare started this generation in that vein but since then, the big exclusive franchises (Mass Effect, Dragon Age) have found their way to the PlayStation platform. EA doesn't really do exclusivity.

I really hope there is a sequel. I have a hard on for ancient Chinese settings like this. It almost makes me want to buy a Dynasty Warriors game, but then I remember how much of a pile of rubbish they are.
