RAGE Jackal Canyon Gameplay: Wasteland Action
So I've been playing RAGE but I can't really talk about it yet. That being said, I doubt Bethesda would begrudge me one word: wow.
And while you have to wait until next week to get your hands on id Software's newest production, the publisher has released 7 full minutes of gameplay.
This is footage from Jackal Canyon (which I haven't seen yet, although I do have the sniper rifle) and although it doesn't really do the game justice from a visual standpoint, it shows you what to expect.
Perhaps the best way to describe RAGE is to compare it to Borderlands, only with an emphasis on vehicles, a more cohesive story, insane graphical quality, and not quite so many weapons. Expect the review to arrive next week as soon as the embargo lifts; until then...I will just keep playing. ;)

let's not forget about id's disgusting tactic of locking out the sewers unless you have a damn code. it's an online pass for a single player game. don't worry, id said most players won't even notice the sewers. i assure the best loot will probably be in the sewers. that's usually how it works. i just don't like online passes and they have no business being in a sp player game.

did you go down in the sewers? can you tell us what's down there or would that violate a review emargo? i understand if you can't answer now but i hope you mention what is down there in your review. mildly irritating is a good way to discribe it. disgusting is a good way to put it as well. in a lot of games the best loot is usually found in places like caves or sewers. there must be something down there. otherwise what's the point? the truth is i don't have a damn clue what's down there. it's probably some high level enemies that grant a lot of xp or drop some good loot.
another thing to remember is not every ps3 out there is connected to the internet. it's something like 80%. so about 20%of ps3 users will be left out of the sewers. the percentage of 360 users left out will be even higher. it's really not fair to them, and i think it's a poor way to treat consumers.
i will say i am glad there was an overreaction to this. it might discourage similar tactics in the future. sp games should not have areas locked out by a stupid code. id's tactic here will defintely cost them some sales.
this reminds me of what ea did with mass effect 2. that game had the comic and all the bonus content locked out by a code. we are talking about hours of gameplay locked out. the bonus content was already on the disc but was locked out by the code. the only thing downloaded from the cerebus network was the comic. me2 was a pain in the ass to get started. half hour hd intall, create ea account, download comic from cerebus network and redeem your code to gain access to content already on disc. the problem there was the cerebus network was down for 4 freaking days, no big deal i thought. i'll start my game and download it later when the network is working. nope that didn't work. i had to restart my game once i downloaded the comic if i wanted to play the bonus missions such as lair of the shadow broker. hours of gameplay lost.
let's just say i was not happy about that. me2's set up was almost like a damn pc game. it was a pain in the ass and totally uncalled for on a sp game. how long before we have whole sections of games locked out by codes? keep online passes out of sp games please.

i will direct him to your site when the review is up. i think this site has the most in depth reviews. they are very well written as well. you do a great job ben, and i think it's pretty cool that you interact with members in the comments section. the members here are great as well. i love the threads section becuase members here are pretty smart and mature. there's really no other gaming site like this. the community is great.

i normally dont let reviews sway me, but i look forward to ur in depth review
But that looks extremely good, no environmental destruction tho. not that every game needs it. I just hope the game is long and not just long for being long's sake, but it keeps you into it the whole ride threw.
Any rpg elements like weapon progression or weapon mods? i know you cant say, just askin tho

I don't really care about the sewers per say, but I don't like supporting the behavior.
