Nielson Poll: MW3 Most Wanted Title For Holiday Season
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3If there's one thing this poll proves, it's that the US is still pro-Xbox and pro-shooters.
Nielson put together a survey of the most wanted games for the upcoming holiday season, which resulted in a Top 20 "Must Have" list you can view at GameZone.
Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 claimed the top spot with a whopping 27% of the votes, while Gears of War 3 and Madden NFL 12 were tied for second with 19%. Now, because poll participants voted between August 21 and September 17, you have to expect the new Madden to be on there. But it didn't turn out that great and I'm sure gamers are looking forward again to other titles.
Perhaps if they conducted one now, games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would be higher than 15th, and Gears of War 3 would start to fall now that it's on store shelves. But interestingly enough, Battlefield 3 only ended up in 7th with just 12%, less than half of MW3. Well, maybe that's about right, as MW3 is destined to sell at least double (probably more) the number of copes BF3 sells.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception was 11th at 9%, by the way. Even Just Dance 3 is above it. ...maybe now we know why the mass populace has put the Xbox 360 in front and hardcore gamers tend to despise CoD drones.

I know shooters are slowly taking over but it's great knowing niche titles still have life in them.

skyrim at 15th place is surprising as well. that seems low to me. i imagine bf3's stock is dropping fast. that game is taking a pounding out there on the internet. it looks like ea really crapped the bed with that open beta is all i got to say about that. with so little time left before the game goes gold it's not looking so good for bf3. i guess there is still some small hope but it's fading fast.
you know what's funny about hardcore gamers despising cod drones? i have few kz3 friends that have proclaimed their hatred of cod but yet i have noticed that they are playing cod mw2 and bo when i am looking at my friends list. maybe it's just cool to hate on cod. i guess my kz3 companions are closet cod lovers. don't ask, don't tell?

It saddens me to know that U3 and Skyrim are so far down on the list. I'm not the biggest RPG fan out there, but even I'm looking forward to Skyrim!

Do you know what a Beta is/means? The developers are testing code from a certain point, ironing out bugs and gathering feedback for an even cleaner release.
At least I get to test my M-FPS of the year. If you played MW2 you played MW3. And its funny, I have read some previews for MW3 and it boils down to same equivalent, "MW3 is treading on repetition", and even GI stated it feels more like a Glorified Map Pack.

Should be interesting to see what everyone else says.
Also, I've been a part of many a BETA.
It is a FATAL mistake to judge a game by the BETA. Sometimes, even the visuals of the actual release aren't even the same as the BETA.

gone are the days where popularity indicated quality.
i had to laugh today, im looking at getting a new tablet and i asked a few salesmen which ones are the best using android and they all said the asus.
i laughed, then said why and he said its the one thats been selling the best.
not because its the most reliable, or its got the best support, or is the better product, but because it sold better.
right, now i can remember why i never buy anything from harvey norman!
